  Installing sshd?

Hey all, I've built and installed sshd (1) on my Red Hat 6.2 box, and the client seems to work just fine, but the server won't accept connections. I've tried "AllowUsers x,y" and "AllowGroups x,y" in sshd_config, and I've played with about every (...) (25 years ago, 12-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Installing sshd?

What version of ssh are you using? I have installed ssh-1.2.27 on many machines and it works correctly right out of the box. does jsproat have a password set in /etc/passwd or is it blank? KL (...) (25 years ago, 12-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Installing sshd?

(...) Well, OpenSSH talks both versions. But I'm keeping with ssh1 'cause Sourceforge won't talk ssh2, and I like to keep my development area simple. Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 12-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Installing sshd?

(...) jsproat has a password. I am using shadow passwords, but that's pretty much standard now anyway, right? (I'm using OpenSSH 1.2.0 BTW.) Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 12-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Installing sshd?

(...) Thanks. I'll diff this against mine when I can login tonight. (...) D'oh! Dunno pam. What is it? Is there a manpage for it? Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 12-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) Pluggable Authentication Modules. (URL) I don't think that that's your problem, but then, it could be. (25 years ago, 12-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Installing sshd?

(...) 'Cause 1.2.0 is what I downloaded last week. :-, Where'd you get 1.2.3? Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 12-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Installing sshd?

(...) Okay, I matched mine up with yours, but it didn't work. Investigating pam... (...) I know I'm coming off as a complete goofball, but I can't find one per se. I have a directory /etc/pam.d , with a bunch of config files in there. Do I create a (...) (25 years ago, 12-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) AND the portal parted, and access thereupon was granted to jsproat, and jsproat did feast upon the access thereof, and there was much rejoicing. And a multitude said, yay, and many flags were waved. Okay, so in the openssh distro there is a (...) (25 years ago, 12-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
