thanks a lot Matt! I never really delved into rpm, I usually compile
and install my own packages (breaking the rpm DB in the process) - but
that was quite interesting. Maybe next system I build I'll try to
keep the rpm DB intact. :)

| (...) I really like RPM (and package managers in general). It really gives you a lot of power, and helps keep your system manageable. I'd recommend installing anything you build yourself into /usr/local -- that way, you keep the RPM database there (...) (25 years ago, 2-Mar-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
