  Novera has been acquired

  Re: Why are SSIs bad?

(...) If you're the site admin, there's not a security problem. The security issue is with letting your _users_ use SSI, because those commands execute as the user which owns the web server. Which, if you don't trust your users, is a bad thing. (...) (25 years ago, 30-Sep-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.publish)

  Re: Why are SSIs bad?

(...) My ISP (io.com) serves .shtml so they expire quickly (I believe but haven't tested), but .html files with the executable file attribute (using XBitHack) are served as if they were static, even with SSI code. I use the XBitHack approach. It's (...) (25 years ago, 30-Sep-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.publish)

  Re: Why are SSIs bad?

Sproaticus: (...) I am not quite sure what security problems there are with SSI. My main reason for (mostly) not using SSI on published web pages is that I suspect that it means that the pages won't be stored by proxies. Is it possible to make (...)   Why are SSIs bad?

Hey all, I use SSI (server-side includes) a *LOT* on my Web pages. They're extremly powerful and versatile. I'm almost a firm believer. But I recall some folks warning about potential security holes and other problems with SSI. Rooting around the (...) (25 years ago, 30-Sep-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.publish)

[ XFUT lugnet.off-topic.geek ] [ Warning: Contains strong acronyms. ] Mike Poindexter: [...] (...) Yes. But it can be done in various ways.   Making Netscape Navigator's toolbar nicer

  USB Extension Cables

  Re: DAT Explorer v. 0.6.1

I like this, but I think that it is hard to navigate. Is north always up, or does it change dependoing on your viewing direction? Some sort of "compass" would be nice. But it is cool anyway!   Re: bmp->jpg?

(...) You find have found what you need already, but I've always been a fan of L View Pro. Not the newer (2 or above versions), but version 1d for win95.   Re: bmp->jpg?

(...) ImageMagick is a good choice. Free, runs on most platforms, and it's command-line driven, so you can do tons and bunches of files in one go. See (URL) Steve (25 years ago, 23-Sep-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  bmp->jpg?

Calling all PC/Windows gurus .... Could someone point me to a cheap/free/fast/good utility that I (er actually my boss) could use to convert Windows bit-mapped files (.BMP) to JPEGs? Thanks, John C. (25 years ago, 22-Sep-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: New LEGO Corp Websites?

(...) Yeah, it's very messy. And until we see more tlds (I'm actually a proponent of allowing _any_ tld, with maybe a five-character limit), it's not like there's very much benefit for us involved. Ah well. Anyway, there does seem to be a (...) (25 years ago, 22-Sep-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: New LEGO Corp Websites?
