  Re: Office 2000 Help

(...) Dunno about O2K (1), but in W2K (;-) you can turn this off in the Taskbar Properties -- it's "Personalized Menus". BTW, mine showed up automagically after about a dozen trips to the Start menu. It crunched everything down, popped up a "Clippy" (...) (24 years ago, 25-Sep-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: LUGNET Memberships

(...) Probably the latter. But maybe (tying threads together) we could have Todd print a bar code that we swiped with our :CueCats to verify it was us (along with a rather easier password that we had to remember) ?? Personally I think one should (...) (24 years ago, 25-Sep-00, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Any having trouble accessing lugnet.com subdomains?

I can access them, but everything except news and guide just say "Hello world! This is ####.lugnet.com!", but maybe it is supposed to do that? --Tobias (...) (24 years ago, 25-Sep-00, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Domain names, re-registering of same.

I have a domain name that is almost out of paid time. I got it back in the days when Network Solutions was the only registry game in town. Other people are cheaper now. I am interested in transferring this name over. Have other people done this? (...) (24 years ago, 25-Sep-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Writing A Proposal

Allow me to point out the (un)obvious... UPC = Universal Product Code where the leading 0 means general merchandise there is an additional lead character but I forget the detail (something like 3 means pharmacutical) five characters to the left of (...)   Any having trouble accessing lugnet.com subdomains?

Someone in the Washington, D.C. area is reporting having trouble accessing things on img.lugnet.com and news.lugnet.com...possibly some kind of DNS confusion somewhere. (img.lugnet.com is where images from the sets database are served.) Anyone else (...) (24 years ago, 25-Sep-00, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Writing A Proposal

(...) Luckily, it looks like Lego uses the set # as the last part of the UPC. At least from the sets I looked at -- are there cases where this isn't true? (24 years ago, 25-Sep-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Writing A Proposal

(...) I intend to set up something so that scanning a Lego UPC automatically enters it in LUGnet as part of my collection. I'd highly recommend against using the software that comes with the :CueCat. Each device has a unique ID, and every time you (...) (24 years ago, 24-Sep-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Writing A Proposal

(...) I got two of these, one from Wired, and one from Forbes. (1) Have people been putting these to any use at all? I could see using them to scan UPC codes maybe... I would rather they built this function into a giveaway mouse instead of YAGTCUMW (...) (24 years ago, 24-Sep-00, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: CSV delimiters

(...) Dang. THAT is a very important piece of info -- thanks! OK... Are there any popular programs out there (on the level of Excel, etc.) which only handle CSV text and don't handle tab-delimited text data? --Todd (24 years ago, 23-Sep-00, to lugnet.admin.database, lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.publish)

I see in the thread that you've got most of the answers you need, but there is at least one complication in the Windows world (if you ever get files from that): The MS programs (and many others too, as (...)   Office 2000 Help

Hey - I've poked around the web enough, and also asked a few people with no success, so I thought I'd dip in the brain pool here. Two questions about Office 2000 - 1) Is there any way to restore the start menus to the way they were before O2K was (...) (24 years ago, 23-Sep-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: CSV delimiters

(...) Aha! Excellent. Those docs sound well thought out. Hmm, that reminds me... Duh, this is prolly a common Perl thing. I bet Freidl[1] as some stuff on CSV? Lessee... <dig dig dig> Ahh, here we go: pp. 204-208, 227, 231, 290. And (haha!) it even (...) (24 years ago, 23-Sep-00, to lugnet.admin.database, lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.publish)

  Re: CSV delimiters

There exists (in CPAN) a Text-CSV perl module. From its documentation: This module is based upon a working definition of CSV format which may not be the most general. 1 Allowable characters within a CSV field include 0x09 (tab) and the inclusive (...)   Re: CSV delimiters

(...) I remember looking for this about a year ago, and I came across something that looked very standardish. If I remember right, it's really silly. You don't actually escape things. Fields are comma separated, and optionally surrounded by (...) (24 years ago, 23-Sep-00, to lugnet.admin.database, lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.publish)

  Re: CSV delimiters

(...) I think there are a variety of CSV-to-HTML-table converters floating around that you can download -- I saw at least 3 earlier while searching before posting. You'd probably want to look for one that somehow auto-sensed whether quotes were (...) (24 years ago, 23-Sep-00, to lugnet.admin.database, lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.publish)
