  Re: slrnpull and LUGNET?

(...) I haven't used slrnpull, but I have experienced the same behaviour with Gnus Unplugged. It would normally function just great, but some times it simply hung when downloading the articles in certain groups. I found some incomplete NOV lines in (...)   Re: Setting the From: header in slrn

(...) As long as your newsreader (or posting agent/client) either leaves it blank or sets it to a unique value, it's OK. But it's not something to mess with in the same way that other headers like the 'From:' line can be messed with. IOW, the (...)   Re: Setting the From: header in slrn

(...) i must have missed this message when you first posted it. what's wrong with messing with the message-id header? slrn took care of it for me on it's own, but now i let your server do the work. :) it's your server, so i'll leave it alone if you (...)   slrnpull and LUGNET?

Okay, another slrn question, this one about slrnpull. I'm trying to spool LUGNET messages so I can read them offline. However, I'm currently having problem getting slrnpull to actually download messages. (2) I can see (1) that it connects to (...) (...) Nope, it was changing my "From:" field that fixed the issue. Cheers, - jsproat (24 years ago, 10-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: Setting the From: header in slrn

(...) Wasn't planning to. :-, IIRC, the server would throw away a bogus Message-ID header, wouldn't it? Cheers, - jsproat (24 years ago, 10-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: PC ('98) to PC (NT4) File Transfer

If your ethernet cards have UTP type sockets, you should consider buying a cheap 8 port hub (I have a genius brand one purchased for 30 USD and I'm pretty happy about it) and two patch cables of appropriate length which are not worth talking (...)   Good site to learn Javascript

I'm looking for a good site to learn Javascripting from. I would like it to be kind of easy, since the only programming language I know is HTML. I will appreciate all responses. Alan (24 years ago, 10-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: PC ('98) to PC (NT4) File Transfer

(...) If they both have ethernet, you really should use that for the tranfer. You can probably get a crossover network cable and just plug them directly to each other, but some network cards don't like that, so you may need a cheap hub. This will (...)   PC ('98) to PC (NT4) File Transfer

PC ('98) to PC (NT4) File Transfer Can anyone recommend a decent PC to PC shareware / freeware file transfer utility? My copy of Laplink only works with Win98/95 and one of the PC's is NT4.0?   Re: Grabbing the stuff after the ? in a URL
