  Re: Bad Choices

(...) AFAIK, U-R-L ("Yoo Arr Ell") is the right way -- but people sometimes say "url" (like "duke of url" ;-) if they want to be cutesey or funny. I've never heard anyone say "url" unless they were ready to duck. :-) --Todd (24 years ago, 23-Jun-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Bad Choices

(...) BTW... after talking to some people on the phone yesterday, I realized that I might be saying URL the wrong way... I say it U-R-L but some people say "url" (rhymes with girl)... Or do they? :-) -Shiri (24 years ago, 23-Jun-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) Sounds to me like you may want to reinstall whatever OS you are currently running. Or you may try to use a more stable OS, if available. (FU: off-topic.geek) Fredrik (24 years ago, 23-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Shiri, I think you can change the Outlook settings so that attachments are NOT automatically previewed or opened. Paul Sinasohn LUGENT #115 (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jun-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Web hosting

(...) Are you sure? I could have sworn they say you can put your own scripts up. I'll have to check this out. I havent come up with a need for cgi yet but have been fidiling around with cgi's but havent done any yet. I am quite happy with tripod (...)   Re: VT100 over the web

(...) I have a few thoughts about this. If the telnet / VT100 throughput has a well- defined format, then such a gateway could use expect (or something like it) and serve HTML forms instead of relying upon the user to enter keystrokes. A side (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jun-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Web hosting

(...) Superuser.net in VA is pretty good. I'm working on a project here with good results. $10 a month will get you 100MB of space, unlimited transfers, shell and ftp access, cgi, ssi, anon ftp, sql, etc... There's also no setup fee.   Re: VT100 over the web

  Re: Grrr... another virus

(...) Ahhh, true. That's what my mom uses, and it does open attachments automatically... so I guess that's it. -Shiri Spamcake... hrmph. (24 years ago, 22-Jun-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Grrr... another virus

(...) Not necessarily, using MS Outlook. In some configurations, it seems to open attachments automagically. Considering that these newer virii are Visual Basic scripts, this doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Didn't Bill Gates argue to the judge (...)   Re: Grrr... another virus

(...) My favorite virus is the Honor virus. I don't know if it's new or not. It consists of a plain text e-mail message, no attachments or hidden html code or anything.   Re: VT100 over the web

(...) Hmmm. I wonder (strictly for the sake of wondering) is it illegal to use the entire Mindterm package in the U.S., or just the bits that use the RSA algorithm? i.e., if a USian uses just the VT320 stuff and not the ssh stuff, is it legal?
