Re: Any cygwin32 users out there?

(...) Actually, you have the honor of being the first to reply! :-, (...) Yeah. And they still stand. :-, Mainly, I was trying to figure out how to get Bash to recognize my .inputrc; specifically, how to get Bash to set editing-mode to vi. IOW, I (...)   Re: Any cygwin32 users out there?

(...) Erm, did you ever get a "yes" from anyone? We're using cygwin32 here at work, but beyond setting it up once and then running stuff in it every day, I don't know much about configuring it. Do you remember what questions you had, 10 months ago? (...) (24 years ago, 5-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Shopping for a new PC...

(...) oh yes, i love the dell laptops too... though, vaio's have a special place in my heart :) (as for servers, i love compaqs and tricords (yes, i know they're not made anymore, but when was the last time you saw a 75mhz machine with 1000 people (...)   Re: Shopping for a new PC...

(...) laptop is far and away better than the Compaqs I've had to deal with. But for non-laptops, I prefer to build my own. Bruce (24 years ago, 4-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Shopping for a new PC...

(...) laf... okie, have you found a window box that doesn't suck? We have a bunch of users that seem to resist the idea of converting to RH (for some reasonable or not-so-resonable reasons :) and I havn't found a platform I'd recommend for them, (...)   Re: Shopping for a new PC...

(...) i deal with dells at work (like 30,000 of them or so) and i just love them to pieces (except the dimentions (sp) they suck)... i've dealt with compaqs, hps gateways and the special no-name brands that have the serial numbers scratched off of (...)   Re: Shopping for a new PC...

(...) Heh. I deal with dells at work, and I think _they_ suck. Nice case design, sub-par performance. (This is the optiplex line; others may be different.) (24 years ago, 4-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Shopping for a new PC...

(...) ewewewewewew. Sorry, I have to deal with some gateways at work, and they all, without exception, suck. If you want a windows based machine, why not go with dell? a quick look shows 1GHz PIII, 256MB 19" monitor, 40GB HD, DVD and CDRW for $4029 (...) (24 years ago, 4-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Shopping for a new PC...

(...) vs (...) Dual PIII 600 vs Athlon 1Ghz is probably a toss-up. With most things, the 1Ghz Athlon will be faster, but rendering is a great best-case application for SMP, so the two PIIIs might be faster for some of what you're doing. And really, (...)
