(...) You can probably get student deals on Apple stuff (which would fit in well with what you want to use your system for). But even with the discounts, that may not be the most economical choice.   Shopping for a new PC...

All, I'm shopping for a new PC. My budget is <$4000, and I'm a student, so maybe I can get student discounts? I know I want a DVD-ROM and a CD-RW drive, but other than that I don't really know much other than I want it to be fast :) Stuff I use my (...) (24 years ago, 4-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  New newsgroup lugnet.admin.nntp

A new group/list for NNTP[1]-related issues has just been created. Probably, you'll just want to ignore it unless you're writing a streaming news client or having difficulties getting your newsreader to do something. CHARTER/PURPOSE ===...=== -> (...)   LugnetReader

(...) Yep, thanks! BTW, it was noticeable from some NNTP-readers, too. I don't read through the web interface either. Is there a LUGNET discussion of LugnetReader somewhere? Will it be just for reading Lugnet (with Lugnet-specific hooks thrown in) (...) (24 years ago, 2-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
