  Re: atari 800 web server

I just have to ask: Is there any actual USE for this thing other than the novelty factor? (reason enough for doing it, of course) What's the oldest iron known to be interfaced to the net this way? The dumbest (most limited CPU) The smallest? (...) (25 years ago, 25-Mar-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) You can probably start the app from the command line with --geometry... (25 years ago, 25-Mar-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Why MS hubris can be a bit annoying

(...) Whoops. c /rendering engine/UI/ as we DO care about the rendering engine. also c/underneat/underneath/ would that what was underneath were neat. ++Lar (25 years ago, 25-Mar-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: A real simple one

(...) Since you brought up Gnome+Enlightenment and keyboard access, maybe someone can help with this. I have one of those keyboards with the Windows icon keys and that other (worthless to me) right-click key. Can I get Gnome's main menu to come up (...)   Re: A real simple one

(...) Keyboard support for almost everything (a highly fortuitous legacy feature left over from Windows 1.0 before mouses) is one of the very few things I *love* about Windows. Alt- to get to any app's menu bar (whether it uses &-underlining in the (...) (25 years ago, 25-Mar-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: A real simple one

(...) Worked! Thanks. Thanks also for not ranting about how MS was braindead in how they did resize... I think under X you can just go in and modify properties directly to get size and position to change. (...) Good thing the first thing worked as (...)   Re: A real simple one

(...) Might not work in this case, but this has worked for me before in similar cases: Alt-Tab to the app so it gets focus; then use Alt-Space-S to resize and hold down the Right Arrow key for a second, then the Down Arrow key for a second, then hit (...)   A real simple one

Under windows 95, I've got an application window that's gone missing. That is, I can maximise it, and I can minimise it, but when I do a non maximised restore, it's not there. I think it somehow got either its size set to 0 or its position sent off (...) (25 years ago, 25-Mar-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Why MS hubris can be a bit annoying

(...) I'm having trouble parsing the above paragraph taken as a whole in light of reality unless you're being deliberately mouthpieceish/obtuse. Here are a few tidbits. MS has a track record of doing things to screw other companies over. It goes (...) (25 years ago, 25-Mar-00, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Why MSIE sucks for the HTML writer

(...) My understanding is that very little of it is based on Navigator code at this point. Early versions of Mozilla were, but then the developers decided that there was too much cruft and started over from scratch, this time with A Plan. This is (...)
