  Steve Jackson

Hey Steve, there's an article about your infamous incident on slashdot I can't believe it's been 10 years. I guess the 10 yr anaversary of the Craig Neidorf case and the DC 2600 mtg will be coming up soon too. Hmm, last I remember Craig moved to the (...)   Re: Palm Pilots

(...) Yeah, me too, given that I get free batteries from work. Otherwise, I'd probably prefer the rechargable. :) (25 years ago, 1-Mar-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Palm Pilots

(...) Actually, it's got 8. (25 years ago, 1-Mar-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Palm Pilots

(...) Looks like you're right about the IIIc. The V and Vx do this as well. Not sure about the VII. (25 years ago, 1-Mar-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Palm Pilots

(...) Hrmmm... that really isn't too shabby. I think I'll find someone who wants a IIIx cheap and get a IIIc, assuming it has 4mb. (25 years ago, 1-Mar-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: DSL newbie

(...) Wow. Excellent, thanks! Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 29-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Palm Pilots

(...) $.02 I'd rather use "normal" batteries. Easier to pick up an extra set while running through the airport and replace on the plane that way. -Steven (25 years ago, 29-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Palm Pilots

(...) I thought the newer Palms would recharge batteries when parked on the cradle??? Steve (25 years ago, 29-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Palm Pilots

(...) I believe that I've read that the e doesn't have the same sync capabilities as the x does, but I don't know the details offhand. Hmm, now that I think of it, I'm not sure where I heard that - may be a bad rumour. ah, there it is. According to (...) (25 years ago, 29-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Palm Pilots

(...) The color one has a built-in lithium rechargable, like the palm V, so it's less of an issue. They claim about two weeks of use. Further investigation shows that that's assuming 40 minutes a days, so that translates to 9-10 hours of continuous (...) (25 years ago, 29-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Palm Pilots

(...) Yeah, not being upgradable sucks. I'm using less than a meg, but I have yet to start trying out much of anything other than the built-in apps. Even if I never use more than 1.5mb, though, I'll feel better knowing I have 4mb instead of 2mb. And (...) (25 years ago, 29-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Palm Pilots

(...) The IIIe is also not flash upgradable. Not a death-knell type flaw, but it does shorten the lifespan. That's more important than the RAM, I think. Mike, how much of your 4MB are you using? I've got a IIIx too, and I barely have more than 1MB (...) (25 years ago, 29-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: DSL newbie

(...) Years of practice. *grin*. Actually, I've been doing Linux admin stuff for years and I wouldn't call myself an expert. But having a reasonable grasp is certainly obtainable. It just so happens that I just got done putting together some pages (...) (25 years ago, 29-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Factoring going off line for a while

(...) Will let you know soon, hopefully. (25 years ago, 29-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Palm Pilots

(...) I have a IIIx. I bought it mainly because I wanted more RAM (4 megs) instead of less with a cool case - the V. Haven't kept up with the specs on the other models - I assume the IIIe has 2mb? I figure more is better, and since IIIx's were going (...) (25 years ago, 29-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: DSL newbie

(...) Hrmmm - ones that were written by people who obviously know what they're talking about? Not sure, haven't read many. :) You could check Cnet, Zdnet, and the like for comparisons between DSL and Cable. (...) Depends on how far you are from the (...)   Re: Factoring going off line for a while

(...) I tried an old version of it about a year ago, on RH 5.2, but gave up on trying to get it to work after a while... is it worth trying again? :) Dan (25 years ago, 29-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Factoring going off line for a while

(...) You tried the new Gnucash 1.3.0? I'm thinking of trying to coax Mandrake 7.0 onto my dual 366/512 system again. Figure it might be fun to do my finances on it... (25 years ago, 29-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Palm Pilots

Folks out there must have Palm Pilots, is it worth the extra money to step up to IIIx instead of starting with a IIIe? What are the advantages of the IIIX? (25 years ago, 29-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
