  Forte Agent problem

Hmm. I just noticed that Agent is dropping messages unexpectedly. For example, I posted message (URL) yesterday. There are now ~12 messages in that thread. As I was reading through messages today, I saw there were 5 or 6 messages in the thread, (...) (25 years ago, 4-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Ripping Vinyl to Digital

Used to be, before CompUSA bought them, that Computer City would have packs of CD blanks for $20 with a $20 rebate - I just had to pay the tax. Ah, those were the days... -S (25 years ago, 4-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Ripping Vinyl to Digital

(...) Let's see... this week, Best Buy has an offer for a spindle of 50 CD-Rs, with rebate. Final cost: $19.99USD, plus a stamp and some patience. That's a pretty good deal, I guess. But gee whiz--it's almost 50 cents per disc. ;) I'm holding out (...) (25 years ago, 4-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Cool, thanks for the pointer. Supposedly we're working on putting out such a device too, our CEO's been reportedly playing around with it at home -- but *I* don't have any details yet. *sigh* -- -Steven "Nothin' But Net!" (URL) Maynes" (...) (25 years ago, 4-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Ripping Vinyl to Digital

(...) It's been done. :) A company calling itself Pine is coming out with a critter they're naming the D'Music SM-200C, which can read MP3 audio from a CD. I've not checked it out further, but the information I've got lists their website as (...) (25 years ago, 4-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) America. and that they're so bloody small. what i'd love is a portable .mp3 player that reads cd's. ~600MB of .mp3 files will give me *hours* of continuous music at a reasonable (for me) quality. -Steven[1] [1]who's got somewhere around 4GB[2] (...) Kevin, (...) Hmm... I am not an audio junkie, so if you say so, alright! (...) Yikes! (...) My roommate has a Sharp, I have bought two Sony (MZ-R55 and the player only, my fiancée has it now) and I have the MD player in my Suburban and her Shadow. I (...)   Re: Ripping Vinyl to Digital

(...) Keep in mind thought that MD's use ATRAC compression, which is a bit lossy. Most people won't notice any serious difference with most music, but some diehard audiophiles (the kind who'll spend $2K on an amplifier kit using vacuum tubes) have a (...)   Re: Ripping Vinyl to Digital

Steve, I have not looked too close, but you can get that CD duplicator that is a stand alone unit. It might have a line-in on it. I have been using a Minidisc system from Sony. It is a really sweet system, and I can put anything on it, from Digital (...) (25 years ago, 3-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Ripping Vinyl to Digital

(...) I've been using Adaptec's Easy CD Creator (basic version came with my Yamaha burner, and I upgraded to Deluxe V3.5), and it seems to be able to handle noise rather well, considering how simple the interface is. It's pretty much set up for ease (...) (25 years ago, 3-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
