  Re: Herring

(...) Probably. OTOH, I realized that if I had been posting on lugnet since it started, in the same frequency I had been posting between Dec. 1999 and mid-July 2000, I'd have more posts than even you do. <gasp> -Shiri (lucky fifth blabbermouth) (25 years ago, 2-Jan-01, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: Herring

(...) Somebody's been watching "Wrong Trousers" on Comedy Central?? ++Lar (responding to as many sillicisms as I can in .fun is a reason my post totals are so high) (25 years ago, 2-Jan-01, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

First (was Re: Ultimate castle theme..)

(...) Congratulations Mark on being the first post of the new millennium. :-) (Of course some would argue for the odometer turn over a year ago.) SRC (25 years ago, 1-Jan-01, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Mm! Herring for breakfast. A penguin's favorite holiday! (25 years ago, 1-Jan-01, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: Proposal: a TOWN building contest!

How about just 3 catagories: ~100 pieces ~1000 Pieces ~unlimited So, you would have vehicles in the ~100 piece catagory, along with parks, park benches, and other neat (small) things. Smaller houses/buildings would fall into the ~1000 piece (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jan-01, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: Proposal: a TOWN building contest!

(...) I think we shouldn't let Gary participate at all (coz he'll obviously win). <grin> Kidding, kidding! But he prolly would, too. :-) -Shiri (who *is* actually considering doing something... but what? hmm) XFUT .o-t.fun (25 years ago, 31-Dec-00, to lugnet.town, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: The Grinch toys

(...) Not true. The TTTE stuff from Hornby appeared before the TV show was finished (in 1984/5). So, it was based on the books, and what was available in the Hornby mold room rather than on the TV show. (It also predates most of the C. Audry books- (...)   Re: Three New Train Cars

(...) No, I don't believe I did make that implication. If you drew that inference where it wasn't implied, I'd say that was sloppy, imprecise, non critical thinking on your part. (...) Well, you're certainly the expert from long practice on sloppy (...) (25 years ago, 30-Dec-00, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: New S@H Catalog

(...) You're right, I don't want to be loose against you, too much chance of damage, I have a lot of parts that might break off. But I'm not worried about losing against you in the over 30 group, since there isn't one. There's just an 18+ one, and (...) (25 years ago, 30-Dec-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: Classic Space Contest: Final votes tallied -- results to follow

(...) Sorry! How about "winner, but not the biggest winner"? After all, no one who entered is a "loser", all the entries are neat. (25 years ago, 30-Dec-00, to lugnet.build.contests, lugnet.space, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: New S@H Catalog

(...) Whew. Well for a sec there I thought I wouldn't be able to enter my "poke your eye out with a sharp stick flatcar load"... (...) Based on what we've seen in the mania magazines, I suspect the answer would be "potentially quite a bit". ++Lar (25 years ago, 30-Dec-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.trains, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: Review: 7316 - Life On Mars: Excavation Searcher

In lugnet.reviews, Karim Nassar writes an excellent, prescient review: (...) <snip> (...) Dude, how'd you *do* that?   Re: Tractor beam?

(...) Well, don't ask the fans, they're groping, get the professional's fifteen answers. I don't know who came up with this one, it might be Thomas Disch or Barry Malzberg or David Kyle: F&SF is "fiction set in an empirical universe other than our (...)   Re: The Grinch toys

  Re: Totally non-Lego, but...

(...) I've bought some hardcover LEGO books, but then as far as I know, it's the only way to stretch for ultimate Pirate completeness (which is eluding me by one set, one book, some service packs, any keychains, all variants of boxes and (...) (25 years ago, 30-Dec-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: Tractor beam?

(...) That's one reason I like the term F&SF (Fantasy and Science Fiction). It nicely lumps everything together, though it is still hard to define (really, most fiction could be considered fantasy). There certainly are books I would consider part of (...) (25 years ago, 30-Dec-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)
