The wily competitor
will likely vote-split anyhow, not putting all the mandatory votes
in that category on the same entry.  They'll pick the ones they
think won't win and spread votes as evenly as possible across
those.

No, the wily competitor would mail a small pile of landing plates to me.
Then I'd favor his design with 20+ votes!

Though it is interesting to take your idea to its conclusion.  2 wily
competitors could end up causing the least likely entries to win.

This is an admirably baroque solution but I think the better one is just to
pitch the entries of non voters and go next best vote count entry wins.

Kyle's gets points for degree of difficulty, though... :-)

{"Well, Frank, that dive didn't come off too well. One of the judges got hit
with eggshell and the diver bellyflopped, splashing most of the water out of
the pool" "Yes, Howard, but the _Quadruple Backflip light a campstove and
Fry an Egg_ dive has the highest degree of difficulty of any dive attempted
in Olympic competition this year, by far, so our diver won anyway, Go USA!
Er, um, I mean, isn't it refreshing to see the Olympic ideals held up?")

Can anyone tell me why these 5 people havn't posted their ballots? If they're not intrested in the outcome of the contest, why bother!?! Should lazyness be rewarded? Should the rest of us be kept waiting? Are we left here to suffer? (...) Ditch'em (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.build.contests)
