I'll be glad to assist :-)
But to understand the song there is something very important one must
understand...
Shalom is a three-meanings word. It means hello, good-bye, AND peace. So
Deidre, you're definitely right about the meaning... now a translation.

"Hello friends
Hello friends
Hellooo, Hellooo....
See you soon, see you soon,
Good-bye, good-bye"
And of course there's the underlying meaning of peace.

I don't think so - I know this song pretty well, and what's funny - I learned
it in the U.S., it's not a very common song in Israel, but it is in America!
(And apparently Oz too!)
In JCC we used to sing that a lot... and there was a dance too... but not in
Israel. :-)

It was actually quite right, I was LOL at your intonations on the third line
because it reminded me of the way it is really sung!! :-)
