    Re: Idle Ramblings —Thomas Main
(...) I heard an NPR report about this test yesterday. They interviewed a 10th-grader who was organizing a protest against the test by having around 40 students write about a different topic than the one that was prompted in the test. The guy (...)         Re: Idle Ramblings —Shiri Dori
(...) Well, sort of. The plan was to: a. show up for the test b. not write *anything* on the test forms c. use the time "constructively" to write a letter to the superintendent or other representatives. At least that was the boycotters plan in my (...) (24 years ago, 19-Apr-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun, lugnet.people)

        Re: Idle Ramblings —Philip Ogston
(...) Keep on truckin', man! You gotta make the best out of school. They like to do it backwards here: instead of teaching you useful stuff and letting you practice it on your own, they have you perform a bunch of essentially meaningless tasks and (...)          Re: Idle Ramblings —Frank Filz
(...) I can answer this one... It's vacation week for Massachusetts (and coincidentally many other places). It's vacation week in MA because this is the week which contains Patriot's Day (April 19, nor the closest Monday to April 19). For other (...)          Re: Idle Ramblings —Shiri Dori
(...) Uh, yeah, I noticed. I have a lot to rant about the US school system, and for that matter the Israeli one too. I do think the Israeli one (in which I spent most of my years) is slightly better, but not by much. The school I went to for the (...)          Re: Idle Ramblings —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Good thing you're saying this in .fun, because it really is pretty funny. But if you're seriously espousing this line of thought instead of just being silly, take it up in .debate where it can be properly skewered. ++Lar (24 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun, lugnet.people)

         Re: Idle Ramblings —Philip Ogston
(...) Sorry, my public school was so poor they couldn't even afford to teach us how to express irony on a computer keyboard. Heck, we were lucky if we could find a computer and it even had enough working keys to type the word "irony". -Ph l (24 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

         Re: Idle Ramblings —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Oh, I realise you were speaking ironically. My beef is more that you're speaking incorrectly from my viewpoint, and that you're espousing political opinions in an incendiary way in the wrong group. You (and Shiri) clearly have issues with the (...) (24 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)
