The question I am asking is
What makes a huanted house?
I was thinking in terms of architecutral styles , interior design etc.
Posted to fun as not sure if this a 'debateable' issue.
Alex

I think this is a great idea for Town. The Addams Family mansion comes to • mind,
which I think is Victorian in style:

Sssshhhh! I'm working on devleloping it into a concept suggestion to send • into
TLG, I DO NOT WORK for them though.(hence the question :-?). I would hate to
have anyone steal my ideas, or for me to steal anyone elses without • crediting!.

Is anyone else working on Haunted Houses at the moment?
(I know of JMG (URL?) ,Cragio lego and the HLDC)

Licencing problems?

The Haunted House doesn't have to be completely identical to the Addams
Family's, but it can include some of the architectural elements or be a
composite of buildings in that style.

There could be plenty of ghosts and skeleton minifigs, secret doors and
passages, and a graveyard in the back. Plus Timmy and his girlfriend, who
decide to spend the night there after getting caught out in the rain...

I had the names Brad and Janet in mind (Long Explanation!)

I don't think we're going to see a sweet transvestite mini-fig any time soon!

oh yeah? wanna bet? i _will_ create "the rocky horror horror lego show" one
day! i'm collecting gray heads for the addams family as well!

Script Idea: - Include a comment on juniorization- That's horrific!!

RHPS is well and truly outside my 'family' defintion! But the connection would
not nessacirly be obvious. Perhaps alternative names would be more appropriate.

my creations have been mentioned several times in these threads, so might
as well toss in two pence. this haunted house theme is like a space pirates
theme. LEGO makes space. LEGO makes pirates. it's a completely modular
system, thusly, LEGO makes a space pirates theme. aside fom an actual set,
LEGO _has_ made a haunted house theme, providing builders with ample elemets
to create such a thing, many times over. i'd rather see a thousand MOC
haunted houses than a lame junorized official theme line. perhaps alex
should consider developing this idea for duplo instead.

Or Scala? perhaps..

a haunted house
theme from lego at this point would be a cross between time twisters and
fright knights, with left over ninja walls in between.

I disagree.  A Haunted House theme WOULD be different from current themes.
In my thinking it could mark a return to more traditonal Lego(R) Themes.
Additonally many of the elements required for a huanted house would be new
and would offer an opurtunity to use some only exsting as DAT files. It would
also see a possible reintorduction of some Homemaker mouldings last used in
Paradisa which was flop).

Besides I feel that it is marketable.

In my view nearly ALL children tell Ghost stories at some point in thier
childhood. I feel that a 'Haunted House' in Lego(R) would aid this
storytelling.

I'm against Juniorization! I feel it would limit the flexibilty of any new
ideas. (Comments voiced to TLG through an inside contact....)
I'm not devloping it for Duplo as I feel that this age group would be too
youung.
But I understand your comments.- Currently Juniorised lego is simpler than
standard DUPLO!!

Like I said, My SilverBook's Open...

i apologize for not being that much fun in offtopic.fun

later ~ craig~

It wouldn't be a haunted house without a few traps too. Personally, I'm • getting
tired of the glut of booby traps that have appeared in the Adventurers • theme
(and Ninja, though I don't own any). It's getting to the point where a • honest
fig can't walk into a building without getting his head chopped off by a • flying
axe.

Agreed, But the traps have to be in context with the house. i.e the roatting
bookcase and dodgy stairs. Have to have secret rooms!
Chopping off heads! isn't that against Lego policy? ( which I  will be happy
to debate at a later time.)

But what's a haunted house without a Norman Bates or poltergiest causing
bodily harm to their unwanted visitors?

Again , Bodily harm is probably against lego policy. Although the do have • the
Ninja Range..... I personally think haunted houses can be haunted without
Norman Bates e.g the Haunted House at Alton Towers.

As to Poltergiest's these may be too extreme.

They could even recycle old Captain Redbeard and put that hook to good • use...
hunting down unsuspecting teenage figs out on make-out point...

My ideas were sort of  more Phantom Manor than Slasher film.
Spooky and mysterious but now scary, violent or frightning.
Please don't take this as a crticism your ideas are nice.

I was being facetious, hence the off-topic.fun. But I'm sure the final • product
will be suffiently watered-down and basically harmless. The target • demographic
group is children anyway, and the less exposure to violence they receive the
better.

My younger brother had the Fisher-Price Haunted House inhabited by "Weeble"
ghosts and a witch. The house had that "spooky and mysterious" atmosphere to
it, and I'll have to admit, it was pretty cool. I wish he still had it.

Remember that I was trying to devlop this into a possible concept to send to
TLG,(Let the 'futility' comments commence.)
I posted here as the  style issues wern't specifcally  Lego(R) related!

Well, hopefully they'll listen. Who knows, they may already have such a theme
in development.

Jim
