I saw it noted somewhere that the 2-liter soda bottle is a 2-liter bottle and
not a 2.11-quart bottle *only* because the imperial measurement is not given
as an alternative. So, goes the line of thought, if we were to start calling
12-oz cans 340-g cans, they'd still be 12-oz cans a decade later.
