I saw it noted somewhere that the 2-liter soda bottle is a 2-liter bottle • and
not a 2.11-quart bottle *only* because the imperial measurement is not • given
as an alternative.  So, goes the line of thought, if we were to start • calling
12-oz cans 340-g cans, they'd still be 12-oz cans a decade later.

We changed over in the UK way back in the 70's. At that time we were all
ripped of as products were generally down sized to metric sizes by a few few
grams or millilitres.... but the prices stayed just the same.
