hag'is  n. A Scottish dish consisting of a mixture of the minced heart, • lungs,
and liver of a sheep or calf mixed with suet, onions, oatmeal, and • seasonings,
and boiled in the stomach of the animal. [ME hagese.]

Hmm. Are you *positive* we're talking about the same thing?

Well, ya. Which descriptor were you struggling with? Tough to chew?
That's the stomach part. Now, granted, the person preparing it may not
have known all there is to know about the fine art(1) of haggis
preparation, but all those descriptors fit.

1 (footnote removed but I didn't get it anyway)

Actually I think we agree. The descriptor I was slightly disagreeing with was
"experience": you might change it to "mistake" or "regret" :)

It's amazing the food that's been invented by folks in tough times. Who ever
even thought cheese would be edible? Can you see two guys once upon a time
daring one another:

Man #1:"You see that ugly animal standing over there on that hill? I'm gonna
go squeeze that bag thing hanging down from it and drink whatever comes out."

(okay so that line has been heard before, and it ain't a big deal cuz calves
drink there too - the second man was crazier/braver/crazier)

Man #2:"Yeah well, I'll go get a bucket and fill it with that stuff, set it in
my dark cool basement, leave it alone for 3 months, and then eat whatever's
growing in it."

-Tom McD.
when replying, cheese fondue with spamcake is growing in popularity.
