Don't be an idiot.
Larry's (and everyone else's) opinions on the piece were just that- opinions.
The author of the piece was under no pressure to change it OTHER than the
opinions of people who viewed it.
If he really felt that the piece was fine, all he had to do was leave it there.
If you want to be angry at someone about the piece changing, be angry at the
author, who CHOSE of his OWN FREE WILL to alter it to suit the desires of the
viewing public.
Artists who are willing to self-censor work that causes a stir are, in my
opinion, spineless wastes of time.
For the record (since I never weighed in on the matter): I didn't like the bit
about Jar-Jar getting wailed on. I thought that it was sophmoric at best, and
dragged down an otherwise well-done bit of LEGO comic-book type work. But it
did one thing that I think anything called "art" should do: It sparked thought
and debate. And I think that in and of itself is cool.
But for christ's sake, the venom I've seen spit at the people who dared to say
that they thought it was wrong (for whatever reason) is totally misplaced.
They can't be "censors"- they didn't have the power to remove the piece or
change it. Only three entities had that power: The author, the admin of
BrickShelf, and the providers of BrickShelf's internet connection. One of
those people chose to act on the public's opinion. That entity is the censor.
Try to use your heads, people.
