Re: Secret Agent Theme for 2001? (was: Re: New S@H Catalog)

(...) This is supposed to prove that a propeller driven craft is a better spy plane than the SR-71? I don't follow your logic here. ~Mark (24 years ago, 6-Sep-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

(...) right about SR-71, but you don't need anymore since the effective use of spy satellites. But if you want carry and drop something (human, etc.) what can you do with a SR-71? (...) If we're going to start talking about dropping people off, then why not just use a UH-60 in its Special Ops configuration? ~Mark (24 years ago, 7-Sep-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

(...) Of course it is an option, too. But high noise and more restricted operational envelopes of helicopters might be a problem, I'm not sure, just an educated(*) guess. Selçuk (*) I'm an Aeronautical Engineer. (...) (24 years ago, 8-Sep-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

(...) A helicopter wouldn't really make much more noise than an OV-10 Bronco, and you get vertical flight too. If it's good enough for the SEALS, it's good enough for me. ;^) Personally, I think the V-22 Osprey is cool as heck, but I wouldn't want (...) (24 years ago, 8-Sep-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Land from what altitude? I doubt if you'd be able to glide all the way in while staying beneath radar... unless these planes have phenomenally good glide characteristics. ~M (24 years ago, 11-Sep-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
