Update:

Billy boy just said "Kids are dying everyday (Unless Congress passes new
gun control laws), they don't know it's an election year."

Al Gore was babbling about campaign finance reform, he is the one who
can't even follow the laws in the first place!

Can we wait until January to rip these malcontents out of the White
House?

Well, here is a gut wrencher for all of you non violent types: teach
this in school. (The sound of alarms going off, leftists kicking in
their screens, mass rioting and hysteria result!) I have told this in
the last round of gun debates here in off topic, but here goes again
because we have some new people here:

I agree that there should be better education - but as long as guns
are around, accidents will happen.  IDF [1] makes everyone go through
basic training (anything from 3 weeks to 6 months) - in which they are
tought a lot about weapons, and weapons safty - that doesn't mean that
there are no gun accidents in the army though.  Same goes for school -
yes, you should teach kids how to be safe with guns, it doesn't mean
they should be able to walk up to dad's cabinet and play with his
shotgun.

Well, yes, but that's the parents job in the first place. The parent
should teach the children about guns, and the care. My dad had a loaded
pistol for years, and I never took it or played with it, and it was
always in an accessible place. He taught me about it.

what's the hysteria again? (I may be lost)...  isn't the issue trigger
locks?  what's wrong with you getting with a new gun a trigger lock?
nothing says you have to use it, or that you can't throw it away...

A trigger lock issue is just another attempt by the government
(Clinton/Gore Administration  especially) to get rid of guns, pure and
simple. A trigger lock might solve some minor problems, but will hurt
others. More legislation, more laws, etc. will not work. More education,
both by the NRA, and parents, would do better. The government can't do
anything right, and this is no different.

isn't it?  I think it still pretty rare that people carry (and use)
guns on their commute...  and I do think that road-rage will be a lot
more scary if half the drivers were armed.

I wasn't talking about road rage, I was talking about carry / conceal
laws. Sorry, I got sidetracked.

but doesn't that contradict your statment about how it's a right to
carry arms?  Don't felons have rights?  (This is just for the debate's
sake - I believe in a stricter gun control, not looser)

No, because once you start committing felonies and the like, you do
loose rights and so forth. The constitutional right to bear arms does
fall under this.

As soon as I can put controls and restrictions on your free speech
right, you can put restrictions on my gun rights.  >:(
