Many scientists have no problem with God achieving his goals through evolution.
My mother was a physical anthropologist and firmly believed in God. However,
others feel it is necessary to prove God exists, and evolution neither confirms
or denies God. Zeal? Lack of faith? Honest conviction? Bad scientists? I
doubt anyone will change their minds based on what is said here.
This is something of an american protestant phenomenom. Europe and especially
the Catholic church have been through it all before and have learned that
science should be left to the scientists.
Actually, the biblical genesis order of creation and that advanced by science
aren't that far off.

Always a debate between literalists and non-literalists. I'm not one for the
24 hour day interpretation, myself.

One of the thing creationists can't stand about evolution is because it appears
to be random. That doesn't confirm a divine hand. Perhaps to God (omniscient
as well as omnipotent) it isn't random. Perhaps he really does hide the dice
where we can't see them. :-)

| (...) I just had a thought on that "God doesn't play dice" phrase. If we truely have free will, then you bet that God plays dice (we'd be a living example). So...yeah...just thought I'd throw that one out there. (24 years ago, 4-Mar-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

| Ah, after hearing the classic creation vs. evolution debate, I'd like to make a few points, both scientific and religious: Evolution, in the purest sense, does occur. Life adapts to its surroundings all the time. I remember the example of a white (...) (24 years ago, 3-Mar-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
