COMMENTARY June 7 2005
What Were Those Justices Smoking?
- The medical marijuana ruling is legally and morally flawed.
By Nick Gillespie, Nick Gillespie is editor in chief of Reason magazine.
The most important quote, IMHO:
- start -
In a concurring dissent, Justice Clarence Thomas argues flatly that "if Congress
can regulate [medical marijuana] under the commerce clause, then it can regulate
virtually anything and the federal government is no longer one of limited and
enumerated powers."
- end -
But hey, let's argue about cross dressing being bad and school prayer being good
instead of being concerned about the feds regulating EVERYTHING... play to your
base, keep those thumpers happy, keep the razzle dazzle going.... and no problem
putting the tyranny in place... that has to be the Crawford plan.
