Its very strange to me, as an American, to read things like
this: The Liberal request repeats key elements of Mr. Braults testimony,
which cannot be reported.

Yeah, government is pretty stupid at times--trying to prevent publication of
govt stupidity is like trying to unring a bell.
This reminds me of the publication ban during the Paul Bernardo trial--any
American station airing any news on that trial was preempted. Of course, this
only worked from cable stations, and Im amazed that American television
stations put up with having their cable feeds selectively banned in Canada.
Of course, if you still had a television arial, or a satellite dish, you could
watch the American feed of the trial, so what good was the ban anyway?
In this day and age with the global information structure that we have, trying
to ban anything in one country is sheer stupidity.
A tangent--
Im told that theres a filmmaker in LA thats sterting to make a film based on
Paul Bernardos life and what he did. I personally dont think that its a good
thing. However, I dont think that the Canadian govt should try to stop the
production of said movie. I will protest by not watching this movie, and
letting anyone who will listen thatthey shouldnt watch it either.
But Ill not enforce my opinion of what is right or wrong on others. I think
that the families involved in that willful horror have suffered enough and that
making this movie does nothing for anybody, except make money for the producers.
But we live in countries where people have the right to do stupid things.
