And then theres Mike who speaks of people better
be ready for lead in the brain.
|
Specifically what I said was: Anyone that tries to take away my
constitutionally protected fundamental rights better find a cure for brain
lead first.
|
What kind of society talks like that?
|
One that recognizes Freedom was purchased in blood. I highly doubt that I
will ever need defend my rights in such a distastful manner, but with idiots
pushing for things like the Patriot Act, I recognize that anything can
happen. What do you think would happen if Dubbya decided to cancel elections
for reasons of national security? Frankly, I dont like where we are
headed,(I hope I am just being paranoid) but if you want to go into it
unarmed that is your choice to make. No one will make my choice for me. If
you think I am a gun-totin-yahoo because I belive in the Revolutionary War
motto of Give me liberty or give me death, then so be it.

Psst! Hey Mike, just for an FYI--were in the 21st century. What worked in
1776 may not work so much right now.
But thats just my personal opinion.
And Ill point out once again that the establishment has nukes and what
else comes with the armed forces. In 1776 (again), the establishment was
not better armed than the citizen.
Put the gun down, it isnt going to do you a wee bit of good, except get
yourself and maybe those you love killed. Martyrs arent made anymore in
that fashion or Koresh would be one.
In the end, live (and die) as you see fit, but let the truth be known--your
gun in your house isnt going to prevent politicians form doing what they
want.
|
Your right but the guns in the other 200ish million homes does.
|
That may have been the case in 1776ish, but not in 2003.
|
Even a Muskett in everyones hands would still work. The modern Military can not
defend itself from millions of people attacking them in their own bases. (I
honestly dont understand why you have difficulty with this concept.) So the
couple million Americans who belong to formally declared militia groups (with
no government ties except the knowledge they exist) which have nearly equivelent
weapons (machine guns, rocket launchers, etc.) would fair very well. Now dont
get me wrong this is a last resort tactic to be sure, but it is the only thing
that backs up mere words. You may believe society is above the concept of
survival of the fittest but if you really take a good look, its not.

P.S. I read in the newspaper a few weeks ago that about 80 percent of domestic
gun violence could be directly traced to drug traficking. If that statistic is
acurrate... well that is a whole differnt topic.
