First, that there is a coalition of any consequences is laughable. Really it’s
just the U.S. and England.
For my part, I think Blair is being dictated to by the power brokers in his
country -- things *might* have been far different if Gore had been appointed
president instead. The democrats are not quite the whores to corporations that
the republicans turn out to be.

With all that done, you would think that Bush would have come up with a
better plan for planting the weapons of mass destruction. snip why
couldn’t those guys who mocked up the Jessica Lynch rescue simply video tape >
a couple of barrels of flour and claim that it was anthrax, or VX gas. They >
could fabricate an elaborate destruction of these items and be fully
justified in the eyes of the media.

Our media, maybe -- but I think we are beyond that now. Shrub may have dropped
the ball timing-wise. Everyone’s going to want their chance to examine any
possible evidence just as these trailers are being scrutinized.
BTW, I was somewhat annoyed with the “conspiracy” angle of your post. As I have
pointed out ad nauseam before: what human activity takes place in a social
vacuum? Right, none. Conspiracy might be going too far -- but these big oil
concerns sure do like making money on unbid contracts. Just as Enron enjoyed a
“hands off” policy while it raped the 3rd World and portions of the U.S. for
their riches. Worldcom sure likes the kid glove treatment from the SEC.
A conspiracy is hardly necessary in an atmosphere where a little money rightly
placed and well-timed means everything in Washington. Frankly, I’d like to see
national and multi-national corporations under the yoke of something as
restrictive as the Patriot Act is in relation to individuals -- and with greater
cause, after all corporations are not even natural persons. Corporations are
just legal fictions -- easy ways to make money and limit liability.
BTW, when is it convenient for you that I out you as a closet socialist? The
public Costello is a straight arrow conservative towing the party line and using
the party rhetoric and jargon. The private Costello is part of a socialistic
religious cult. How convenient for you. The best (or worst) of both
worlds...no wonder you hate taxes so much (not that I like them, mind you). You
pay twice: once to Uncle Sam and then again as a 10% tithe. I guess you were
right, you are not strictly republican, the “two faces” of Costello are so hard
to reconcile.
