Ouch! This past Friday, the house next door played their music so loud (at
8 p.m.) that we couldn't actually hold a conversation in the house I was
staying at. Undergrads moved into that house as well. Well, Ann (who
doesn't put up with anything from anybody) goes over, and 5 min later, the
sound dies down... she comes back and is just about to tell us what happened
when we hear some guy yell out the window, "But it's Friday night!!!!"
Well, the music stayed reasonable until 11 p.m., when someone cranked it
again. Dave (a different one than me) went over there and the music died
down (again).
Of course, this is the same undergrad house that was lighting fireworks on
July 1st from the front yard--a yard I may add that's just slightly bigger
than a patio slab.
What is it about some undergrads? First time they're away from home and
their brains turn to mush--no respect, or at least consideration, for any
other person?
I don't know what the answer is.
I like fun just as much as the next guy--but denying other folk's rights to
sleep and feel safe on the streets...
I think pursuit of the law is in order, but do too much and there may be
ramifications a la vandalism 'n such--they may be pushed too far and snap back.

They were quieter until a 2:30 group sing-a-long of "Proud to be an American" Nothing makes me prouder than 60 drunks singing that song. :) (...) It (...)
