Indeed, these days the engine fuse pin is designed to release the engine when
any unexpected substantial forces are applied to the engine, rather than
transfer the forces to the wing, which may result in wing failure.
Even a catastrophic bird-hit can cause large unexpected rotational forces in
the engine, triggering the fuse pin.
The biggest problem is controlling the 'plane after losing the engine. This is
not trivial, especially in 2 engine 'planes, during take-off.
