Yes, best to work on that spelling. It can lead to some nasty
errors.

It's neither reasoned nor coherent, so I definitely don't. It
sounds like rather self-absorbed anti-American essentialization
that's based on tortured logic, willful misreadings, and tortured
logic, the same kind we're trying to avoid having applied to Arabs
in the wake of this horrific day.

So far the actions of our government have been fair and measured,
if not always the words, which must be chosen for a certain effect.
I only hope that they remain so. The actions of most people
have also been heartening, save that of a few jingoistic acts
and elements--some anti-Muslim incidents (some in NJ directed at
Sikhs simply because they wear a headdress), a few people who have
been openly airing their fanaticism and hatemongering on the air,
and of course eBay and fuel profiteers (report the latter whenever
you see them!). [1] But on the plus side, there have been zero reports
of looting in New York City, and they *still* can't find places to
put all the volunteers and blood donors who have been pouring in.
I want this last to be the trajectory that sustains--when I see
and hear the stories, the sacrifices, and the support, I'm truly
proud of my country.
optimistically,
LFB
