In the middle of my summer vacation, I heard that the American company that
has just recently purchased the production plant I'm working in, has decided
to shut it down. 508 people will lose their jobs, and I am of course one of
them. At the same time, they are building a new plant in Poland, offering
6000 people a job. The company denies any connection, but we have been
shipping our equipment to Poland for months, and we have a lot of stuff
labelled "To Poland".
Not all, but several units at our plant is making positive financial result,
despite the decline of orders. That's not good enough for the stock holders.
More! More! More! they demand. So they move the production to Poland. Why
pay for social welfare, decent working conditions, environmental
responsibility, retirement funds, at least three months notice to quit and
other rights when you can hire a slave in Poland and grant him/her no rights
at all. If she gets pregnant - there's the door, bye!
If the profit margins aren't still good enough, then move to China and use
children in chains!
On September the 6th, I sent the following post to a Cristian newsgroup on
the subject 'Re: What is sin?':
* Interesting.
*
* It's just that I'm so tired of this definition of sin limited to sexual
* impurity.
* It's not wrong, but it's so far from the whole truth.
* Litterally translated, I think the Greek word for 'sin' used in the Bible
* means missing the goal.
* And Jesus said: "Sin: They don't believe in me".
* If we're talking about sin in a more popular meaning, I think it's important
* not to just reduce it to how we use our
* gentiles. We have the Catholic definition list of what they consider mortal
* sins. I'm not a Catholic, but I find it more
* accurate than a long, detailed list of sexually related sins.
* Paul's list of the deeds of the flesh is also a good list of sins (in this
* more modern meaning) to avoid.
* I'm not saying that it's ok to commit sexual sins. I'm just saying that we
* must be aware of other things that also
* troubles the Holy Spirit, like greed for example. Have you ever heard a
* cermon where a preacher warned for that?
*
After the WTC disaster, the first time I heard a politician call it "An
attack on Freedom", I just shouted out loud: "WHAT???"
If the Statue of Liberty had been blown up, I would have understood that
statement, (maybe not agreed) but the WTC? Or the Pentagon? To me, Wall
Street and the WTC has represented anything but freedom! It was the world's
greatest Temple of Greed and Indifference in my eyes.
Until I saw the pictures of people escaping from the disaster site and saw
that they look like you and me - they even bleed like us! - I had a
dehumanized view of the hugely overpaid people spending all their days
speculating and gambling with other people's hard, productive work.
There is a growing wrath towards this inhuman exploitation, these demands
for accelerated social dumping in the name of competition, never to be
satisfied. I don't like my company: fanatics from groups like Attac and a
very small but dangerous minority of Muslims, but at least I don't throw
bombs or street-stones.
It is easy to agree to GWBs statement: "It is evil". It sure is. So, if we
stick to the Bible (sorry for being religious, I normally try to keep a low
profile, but I guess times are apocalyptic) - if we stick to the Bible, what
is the root of all evil? Must be the Philisteans! Look what they done! No,
wrong answer. What about the Serbs? No, I don't even think they're
mentioned. Saddam, of course? Wrong again, take a look inside. Aah, you mean
our gentiles! Of course, all sins must be related to sex, right? Nope, wrong
again.
The Bible says the love of money is the root of all evil. So the hijackers
did this to show their love of money? No, I don't think so. But maybe there
had been no suicide attack, or the attack had failed if America (and the
rest of the so-called democratic world) dealed with its unrighteous, sinful
greed?
What I don't like with America is this sturdy nationalism and its total lack
of humility. Trust in the world's strongest defence, best intelligence, and
strongest economy, but if God doesn't guard the gates, the CIA watches in vain.
Just keep on neglecting UN decrees and turn down suggestions on cooperation
to save what's left of the global environment, but don't be surprised if the
number of anti-americans grows.
Attack on democracy? What? Like I said before, USA along with a not very
flattering company of dictatures cling to death penalty. And the latest
election, with frugal, non-functional equipment and lawyers and courts
interpreting the outcome. I must admit that I don't understand the
democratic system with only two parties: Right-wing and ultra right-wing? Is
that correct? Never mind, the schedule of the politics is set by Wall Street
anyway.

Usually, I don't read the Book of Revelation that much, but this summer I've
read it a lot. Particulary the fall of Babylon. I've tried to implement and
anticipate the collapse of the EU experiment, but to my disappointment,
comparations have failed.
What if we have the WTC tragedy in mind instead:
"Fallen, fallen is the great Babylon! ... For the sake of her adultery, all
the people had to drink the wine of wrath, and the kings of the earth have
whored with her, and the traders of the world have been rich due to her
power and luxury." ... "Get away from her, my people, so you don't
participate in her sins and therefore must participate in her tournment.
Because her sins has reached up to heaven and God has not forgotten the evil
she has done." ... "'Give her as much pain and sorrow as she has surrounded
herself in glory and luxury'... Therefore har pains shall come in one single
day - death and sorrow and starvation - and she shall be consumed by fire...
And the kings... shall cry and lament when they see the smoke... 'Voe, voe
to you, you strong city. In just one single hour, the doom has come over
you.' And the traders of the world cry over her and mourn because noone buys
their cargos of gold and silver... slaves and human lives. In one single
hour, all these riches have been completely ruined."
One single hour - isn't that the time ellapsed from the first impact to the
collapse?
When they see the smoke - did anyone miss it?
Traders of the world - World Trade Centre...
It's spooky, isn't it?
As clear as I see it after two nights without sleep - :o) - the root to the
evil that struck USA is to be found inside the own country. But with the
attitude: we are strong, we will fight back, revenge, it looks dark...
