That's a little better, thanks.

I support investigation of this and prosecution if warranted. There are laws
on our books against this sort of thing and they need to be enforced.

PETA alleges this is pervasive and endemic, (which I'm not convinced they
have shown, per se, although it is telling indeed if they are able to pick
an operation randomly and find it, let them do it 10 times more) and the
only solution is to stop eating meat entirely. Even if it is pervasive, I'm
not sure I agree with that conclusion, I'd advocate vigorous enforcement of
our anti cruelty laws first and see if the pervasiveness (endeminicity??)
can be changed.

And it certainly wouldn't help the cruel treatment of other animals which
aren't bred for meat. I don't have any links, but I volunteered at the RSPCA
(Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) for several years, and
have seen photos you wouldn't believe - one case involved a "breeder" of
spaniels, there were over 60 animals in about 4 stalls, looked like they were
never cleaned, their coats were totally matted, many of the animals were lame
and / or blind (partially or totally), and there were several dead bodies just
left to rot (mostly pups). When I was shown the photos, I puked. I can't
imagine what it would've been like for the inspectors out there actually
looking at (and smelling) it.
