Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License

(...) As the owner and builder of about 3000 LEGO sets and 200 MB sets, I have done a lot of comparing the two brands over the years. MB from last millenium is definately of poor quality, just like you describe. MB from the Dragon sets does earn (...) (18 years ago, 26-Jun-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License

(...) Each to their own I suppose. Outside of the odd mech or spaceship, I generally build robots and machines. Not lining up straight could be a major problem if a mechanism snags something. Of course for more aesthetic models, it actually may add (...) (18 years ago, 26-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License

(...) I love the idea of boycotting the Mega blok sets but making the models from Lego. Steve (18 years ago, 24-Jun-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License

(...) Yes sadly the Dragons and Pyrates Mega Bloks lines are some of the worst quality they have done. Its not because of the juniorizedness of the sets either. For some reason the part quality is no where near as good as Mega Bloks' more brick (...) (18 years ago, 25-Jun-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License

(...) Those very first batch of Blok Bots were pretty bad. However the second generation of Blok Bots was right around the time Mega Bloks had a rather large quality jump. They are still not as good as Lego but they are a lot closer than the early (...) (18 years ago, 25-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License

(...) I agree that the plates and bricks don't always line up laser-straight with one another, but honestly I kind of like that. I've never had any major problems as a result, though I acknowledge that the fit can sometimes be a little tight. (...) (...) (18 years ago, 25-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License

(...) Sadly my experience of Mega Bloks was pretty bad. I also had issues of actually getting them to stick together sometimes. Have your ever tried stacking 8 or so Mega Bloks 2x1 plates? Then do the same with Lego ones. Now run your finger over (...) (18 years ago, 25-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License

(...) Fair enough, but it's still in the disser's own interest to know what he's talking about. Dave! (18 years ago, 25-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License

(...) Well, I find it annoying, yes. (URL) are some of my thoughts on the subject, in fact. At the end of the day, this is obviously a LEGO-fansite, but it seems childish in a "he-men-women-haters-club" sort of way to attach a little snark in the (...)   Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License

(...) Gonna have to disagree with you whole heartedly on the quality of Mega Bloks. When the MB Dragons line first came out, I bought several sets, being a dragon fan. I put the sets together and they look good, even if they are built out of (...) (18 years ago, 25-Jun-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License

(...) <snip> (...) I have to at least partially disagree with you here. I remember buying a blok bots set many years ago (yes, long before Exoforce, Titan XP, and Life on Mars). I remember being particularly excited about the joint technology, and (...) (18 years ago, 24-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License

(...) Agreed, but the original post was also sent to several other newsgroups, and FUT to .build.mecha as well. ROSCO (18 years ago, 24-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License

(...) You know those portions of text that the LUGNET admins have programmed to be inserted into our email addresses when we post? You'll see things like "IHATESPAM" or "+avoidspam+" in part of the poster's email address to help thwart those (...) (18 years ago, 24-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License

(...) Well, Jeff already hit the nail on the head. Go ahead and diss them. Heck, scream to high heaven about how bad you think they are, for all I care. But the more obviously ill-informed your criticism, the sillier you look in the process. I mean, (...) (18 years ago, 24-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License

(...) First, courtesy suggests that the least you could do is learn the brand name. I mean, you don't see Mega Bloks fans complaining about Leggos. 8^) Second, the bricks aren't as low quality as you probably think, and many of Mega Bloks' designs (...)   Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License

(...) Dave's point is you should be informed before you diss, otherwise you just make yourself look bad. Jeff (18 years ago, 24-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License

(...) Sigh. That puts me in a very tough position. 1) I hate Megablocks, and refuse to buy their low quality bricks and poor designs. 2) I'm possibly the biggest Gundam fan here. What do I do now? :/ (18 years ago, 24-Jun-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License

(...) If I want to diss Megabloks, then I'm in the exact right place to do it. (The L in LUGNET stands for LEGO.) (18 years ago, 24-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License

WOW! Very nice looking Gundam there. Given that MB and Lego bricks are 99% the same and compatible, it should be an easy feat to build Lego versions once the instructions become available. I look forward to that! Dave (18 years ago, 24-Jun-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License

(...) I think it's safe to say Bandai has the ability to nix something that MegaBloks develops if they're not happy with it, so I highly doubt this would happen. Also, as Dave said, MB already beat Lego in the mecha department. As much as I don't (...) (18 years ago, 24-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)
