  Clone brand review - Diablock

For those who have never seen this brand in person, I managed to obtain 3 small sets today and have posted a picture-heavy review of one of them on my forum (URL) here>. Please take a look if you are interested. Here is a picture of one of the sets: (...) (20 years ago, 21-Nov-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

  Re: New Dragons Sets

<snip> (...) Wow! Apparently the UK gets a differant selection of sets and what's actually in them. Just looking at the version shown for 9891 "Vorgan Stronghold" I don't recognize anything about that set from what I have... Ok, if you don't count (...) (...) why I never mentioned them before. This site: (URL) has info on them. Do a search for "bloks" and you'll get a nice listing of these and other sets. I found these on page 2 of the search results. Still, the two-pack does indeed look like it (...) (20 years ago, 19-Nov-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

<snip> (...) Yes I do... the 4 new ones that you reported on, 9858 (Dragon Mountain), and 9887 (Fire Storm Fortress). All the others I either have on-hand or on-order, (AFAIK). That would be 7 dragons from all 6 of the sets I don't have yet. (...) (20 years ago, 19-Nov-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Re: Shifty set

(...) It's not quite accurate for them to describe all of the sets as "blatant copies" of LEGO sets. Granted, many sets were direct copies, and Shifty certainly copied numerous patent-protected parts, but the Shifty castle set that I bought has no (...) Funny, I bought and wrote this... Now I read this: (URL) is just across the waters, 80 km from here. 10 tons, 10000 sets :-) That is a lot! S PS: I will keep the set, in case I have to do a setup/show sometime again. It will go under "bad bad bad (...) <snip> More news from the Dragons front. I don't think that this has been brought to anyone else's attention. I just found these 2 sets on KBtoys.com. One a Fire set and one an Ice.   Going cloneless

Well, after dabbling with Mega Bloks and Intelli-Blox on and off for the past decade I've decided to abandon efforts to cross-brand my building. I've debated the relative merits of clone use back and forth for some time. I can't say it's any sort of (...) (20 years ago, 15-Nov-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Mega Bloks does it again...

(...) Doesn't this have more to do with MegaBloks being a hometown company than a marketing failure on the part of TLC? I wouldn't expect a big MegaBloks display in a toy store in Billund. Marc Nelson Jr. (20 years ago, 15-Nov-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Well, here is an other example of good marketing execution by Mega Bloks... And a bad one by LEGO, in my view. November 13th, 2004, a new toy store opened in Quebec City : (URL).
