Re: Question about quality of Best Lock...

(...) I have the $20 Best-Lock pirate ship (the regular, not skeletal one) sitting on a shelf. The Short Review: Ain't as good as LEGO. The figs can be tossed. The cannon mountings are excreble. The bowsprit is wobbley. The half-height bricks make (...) (20 years ago, 6-Oct-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, lugnet.pirates)

Re: Question about quality of Best Lock...

(...) I'm surprised that you classify Tyco as terrible, since many people regard it as the best of the clone brands. In my view, Oxford, BTR, Qubo, Byggis, and Tyco are all of excellent quality, on par with The Canonical Brand. (...) "Good" is a (...) (20 years ago, 6-Oct-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Question about quality of Best Lock...

I am in the position to pick up a full pirate ship with a lot of pieces for only $20. But, it is a Best Lock brand set, and I am very wary of incorporating an unknown clone brand in with my Legos. I know for a fact that BTR and Oxford are absolutely (...) (20 years ago, 6-Oct-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Millionaire Playboy reviews Minimates C3

(URL) This page> links to three reviews, as well as to other stuff that I didn't read. I'm torn. Millionaire Plaboy seems to love love love these C3 sets, and I admit that the reviews are cleverly written and contain a lot of detail. Unfortunately, (...)   Nano New York and Toronto Contest

Thought I'd pass this along as I found the models interesting - Mega Bloks is having a guess the number of nano bricks contest at their site: New York (2 URLs) Toronto (4 URLs) Click on the images for a larger view. Mark (20 years ago, 25-Sep-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

  Re: Nano System Metrics

(...) At the very least using tiles one could brace an nano-scale construct in a standard-scale construct. That would allow for some really interesting detailed interal componets. I am far more interested in this line now that I know this. Thanks (...) (20 years ago, 22-Sep-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

Hi Isaac, I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my question! (...) Hi Darrell, I suppose you already know that the cost of a metallic mould can vary depending on the complexity of the shape of the objects, but at the very least it'll still put you back by a few thousands US$, right?   Nano System Metrics

I just recently picked up one of the new Nano System sets (Rescue Cutter) and I have to say these miniature blocks are rather cool. I especially like the plates, they're just so "dainty".
