Re: My first sighting of a 2004 set

(...) Dave, I got this set a couple of weeks ago at TRU in New York and just haven't had time for a post. Yes, the magnets work, and the dragon is kind of see thru. 5 of the knights are totaly clear, while 5 are silvery clear like the dragon. The (...)   My first sighting of a 2004 set

Maybe not news to some people, but I spotted (URL) new Dragons set at my local TRU. It's a bit pricey at $19.99, but it includes a "Krystal," a two-headed Dragon, and 10 "Ghost Warriors." The Dragon is dull silver, but the warriors (in standard (...) (21 years ago, 8-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

  "Alien" weapons for Lego-conversion!!!

To anyone interested in an Alien/Aliens theme Lego conversion, please note that the wepons of the Kubrick Alien figures are perfetly scaled with Lego-like minifigs. A little loose in the MF hands, but nothing that cannot be easily corrected. Now, (...) (21 years ago, 7-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Here is what Megabloks sold in 1988

(...) You're welcome. Make sure to see the other picture I took in my vacation: an old 1978 Lego ad in a cartoon magazine! (URL) (21 years ago, 7-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Here is what Megabloks sold in 1988

(...) I remember that brand, but I've never seen it in real life. I suppose it couldn't have done too well, judging by its disappearance! (...) My first exposure to any compatible clone brand (i.e., not Tente) was the MEGABLOKS Brontosaurus set from (...) (21 years ago, 7-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Here is what Megabloks sold in 1988

Taken from an old 1988 christmas catalog I dug from my parents' basement. The catalog is from a defunct canadian company (Distribution aux Consommateurs). Big, basic baby blocks. Interesting to note that Fisher Price had its own "Construx" line back (...) (21 years ago, 7-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: DC licenses Art Asylum to make Batman/JLA construction sets

(...) They are roughly the size of Kubricks, i.e. a little bigger than standard mini-fig size. (...) Play Along Toys is affiliated (in what fashion, I don't know) with Art Asylum, which is the principal manfacturer of the figures (and presumably the (...)   Re: DC licenses Art Asylum to make Batman/JLA construction sets

(...) I'd say the pictures of just figs are real, but the other two are rendered. It looks like the figs are full-size human figures in the same scale as the dwarven Lego minifigs. Or perhaps a bit bigger? The Batman city image (lower left) looks (...) (21 years ago, 4-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

DC licenses Art Asylum to make Batman/JLA construction sets

(URL) came out yesterday. From the pictures they look like a cross between Kubrick and Belville styled figs, at least joint wise. Looking at some of the (1) images with bricks and pieces, it would appear they're making them at least somewhat (...) (21 years ago, 3-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Apocryphal tribute

Hi all: I didn't know Travis Kunce well, but we exchanged posting once or twice, and I share the view of pretty much everyone on LUGNET that he was a good guy who will be missed. In the spirit of the Hovercar tribute contest, I thought I'd submit (...) (21 years ago, 2-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Any finds at Target?

(...) In the Bay Area, I've been to 4 Target store, and gotten some good deals, and passed up some OK ones. Hellfire droids are down to $34.22, only found 1 AT-TE and bought it. Lots of pod racers minis at $2.68 One store had a few hockey sets on (...) (21 years ago, 1-Jan-04, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Re: New MEGABLOKS items

I actually tried to post this link about a month ago when I first saw the sets, but Lugnet emitted some strange error on me when I posted, and I let it slide until I saw your message. (...)   While I'm at it, here's a nice feature on the MEGABLOKS site

On the (URL) MEGABLOKS> website, PDF-format instructions are now available for download (URL). Nifty, and handy! Dave! (21 years ago, 30-Dec-03, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

  Re: New MEGABLOKS items

(...) Hi Kevin: Thanks a ton for this link. I'll spend a chunk of my afternoon browsing through the pictures, almost all of which are completely new to me!   Re: New MEGABLOKS items

(...) FYI Hobby Link Japan (www.hlj.com) has them for sale. I have a set ordered, but they haven't arrived yet. MB has an Ultraman license in Japan as well (I ordered a couple of those, too), and their Power Ranger sets are onto the next theme over (...)   New MEGABLOKS items

(URL) Here,> (URL) here,> (URL) and here.> Not my auctions, I don't know the seller, and I won't be bidding. Thoughts? I find the whole Thunderbirds vibe to be extremely creepy in some way, not unlike a ventriloquist's dummy. I note with interest (...)   Re: Clone sightings

Even weirder is that X-Blocks has Marvel's license for Spiderman, and the Spiderman X-Blocks hit the shelves at TRU just when Lego's did. Marvel has been entertaining deals like this with Lego or others for years -- I met two Marvel employees in the (...) (21 years ago, 18-Dec-03, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

  Clone sightings

I just spotted a new (to me) brand of clone brick at TRU called X-Blocks. I’ve never heard of it before, but this particular set is a licensing of the movie The Hulk, and it’s apparently called the Hulk Destructor Construction System. The set is (...)   Re: Ninja Turtles

(...) Hi Richard! There's been some mention of this product line here in OT-Clones, such as here: (URL) spotted the sets at TRU, and you're right that the heads *do* have quite a bit of character. I haven't bought any yet, but the figures seem to (...) (21 years ago, 17-Dec-03, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)
