John,
How is it that the 5563 is dumb but not the 5571? The 5563 is based on a two
axle cabover design. We have one sitting outside my office. The only problem
is that the rear wheels should have 2 on each side. This same problem is
present on the 5571. The only time I see trucks with just one two wheels per
drive axle instead of four is when they have large balloon tires that are
better for travelling over sand and are often found on cement trucks, which
spend a lot of time on sand.
Other than the price/piece change, which is bound to happen over time, the new
5563 is pretty cool. I don't really like the dragster, but that is my
uninformed opinion (I know nothing of dragsters).
When one compares price/piece ratio of themes, compare them to current sets.
Not many will win over the old sets. The new Model Team is still a better
price/piece ratio than the other lines (except freestyle, which can't be
compared to model team).

| Maybe I over-reacted. I just hate to see a line of models get cheaper-looking and more expensive at the same time, at least that's the way it seemed to me when I first looked at the new catalog's Model Team pages. I've never seen a "two-axle (...) (25 years ago, 29-Sep-99, to lugnet.modelteam)

| (...) I haven't bought it yet, but the wheels definitely appear to be the same. It actually doesn't look like the good deal that Model Team sets usually are. I mean look at the 5542 helicopter -- 483 pieces for $44, less than 10 cents per piece. The (...) (25 years ago, 20-Sep-99, to lugnet.modelteam)
