  Re: new 2003 sets

(...) I don't mind the helo and boat being a little plane-looking. And I am also sure they are intended to compete with MegaBloks. But I don't buy MB and have been waiting for this stuff from Lego for about three years now! MB is too laden with 2x4 (...) (22 years ago, 5-Feb-03, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.modelteam)

  Re: new 2003 sets

(...) All the spacecraft are brilliant - I particularly like the Arianne 5 and the shuttle. The truck is amazing, though I think the helicopter and boat are a little too plain. They're clearly intended to compete with the MegaBloks models of this (...) (22 years ago, 4-Feb-03, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.modelteam)

  Re: new 2003 sets

(...) No, they'd never be able to pull it off without a lot of negative publicity. It only takes one complaint to scupper everything. As it is, I suspect there'll be several delays and serious reviews before they finally decide to release it. Even (...) (22 years ago, 4-Feb-03, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.modelteam)

Re: new 2003 sets -- Space Shuttle

(...) Well, if they could get away with selling the Movie Maker Set With Falling Twin Tower Action after 9/11... (To this day, I still don't see how they managed to avoid complaints about that.) (...) I'm getting it too, but only partially for that (...) (22 years ago, 4-Feb-03, to lugnet.modelteam, lugnet.general)

(...) Even more pictures appeared... (URL) in the German forum the photographer added this comment (added translation below): Ich habe ganz einfach gefragt ob ich denn fotografieren dürfe und dies bekam ich darauf zu hören: "fotografieren Sie soviel (...)   Re: new 2003 sets

(...) Actually, in my opinion, if the set were named Columbia, it would be a bigger seller, as it would now be a souvenir, or memorabilia for this recent tragic event. Sales-wise I'd call it unlucky. Just my $0.02 worth. Play well. Tim Strutt (22 years ago, 4-Feb-03, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.modelteam)

  Re: new 2003 sets

(...) I love the age posted on the helicopter box (4403). 0-99!!!! Yay! Tim Strutt (22 years ago, 4-Feb-03, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.modelteam, lugnet.general)

  Re: new 2003 sets

The Shuttle set looks great, but the Apollo set is a disgrace. The Command Module and Saturn launcher are not to scale to the Lander!!! Is it just me, or do other people enjoy the number of sets which have broken the shackles of mini-fig scale? I (...) (22 years ago, 4-Feb-03, to lugnet.modelteam)

Now THAT'S what I've been waiting to see :-) I figured Technic was not completely dead; just seeing what is in the 2003 Pitsco gave me some assurance. But that (...)   Re: new 2003 sets

Now that's a bit of irony, those space sets. Imagine if they had chosen Colombia instead of Discovery... Regardless...SWEETNESS!!! Except for the continuing death of studs in Technic, this year's line rocks! Those sculptured noses, those boxcar (...)   Re: new 2003 sets -- Space Shuttle

I would like to see LEGO re-release an updated version of the Space Shuttle set #1682 as a commemorative to both lost shuttles. The set could signify rebirth and rebuilding and to forge ahead into the future -- key elements, I think, in the healing (...) (22 years ago, 3-Feb-03, to lugnet.modelteam, lugnet.general)

Re: new 2003 sets -- Space Shuttle

(...) I'm sure Tim's dry-cleaner will be happy to know that he's "not a leaker." :) (No, I expect these are legit NTF pics and not leaks.) (...) I do hope they won't wait to release the set or pull it. It's the "Discovery", after all. But I'm not (...) (22 years ago, 3-Feb-03, to lugnet.modelteam, lugnet.general)

Re: new 2003 sets -- Space Shuttle

<snip> (...) I disagree completely. A new, highly detailed LEGO version of the Space Shuttle is a tribute to the ideals, visions, and dreams that propelled Columbia into space. The people who died on board died for that vision. They knew there were (...) (22 years ago, 3-Feb-03, to lugnet.modelteam, lugnet.general)

Re: new 2003 sets -- Space Shuttle

(...) In trying to keep discussion in correct groups I'm sticking to .modelteam and .general to talk about the beautiful new Space Shuttle set 7470. I'm assuming these are pictures from the Nuremburg Toy Fair, and that means these aren't leaks? I (...) (22 years ago, 3-Feb-03, to lugnet.modelteam, lugnet.general)
