New MOC: Large scale 2-truck Shay

Hi folks, I delurked on .space a while ago, but I'll say a quick hello to everyone else! I've been thinking about building large scale Lego trains for a while, but I've only recently sorted my sets and been able to start building. Here's the first, (...)   Re: The Big Crane At Brickfest

(...) Yep, that is pretty amazing. Got any pics? How long is the structure, how is it constructed? The problem, or rather potential problem, with a Lego truss is that failure is catastrophic (and I speak from experience here). You'll have one joint (...)   Re: The Big Crane At Brickfest

(...) Dennis, Booms made of Technic beams like this are remarkably strong. I am working on a crane as well (who isn't!) and have tested the boom to 100Kg direct load and it doesn't even look like moving. I was pretty amazed about this result myself. (...)   My Pictures From Brickfest

I've collected my Brickfest pics that focus on the Technic, Model Team, and Mindstorms themes. They are presented along with quick descriptions, and they are all thumbnails linked to larger images.   Re: The Big Crane At Brickfest

(...) I was fortunate enough to get it right (or at least get it to work) on the first try. For some reason, every part of the construction went very well, almost too well. I kept a log of my building time, and was quite surprized at the final (...) (22 years ago, 25-Jul-02, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.modelteam)

Re: The Big Crane At Brickfest

Thomas, (...) Sounds interesting! (...) Only 71 hours, that's not much for such a high tech crane. I wish I could see the crane in real once. It would be great if you can show on the Modelshow Europe ;-) The visitors like the LEGO models! Especially (...) (22 years ago, 25-Jul-02, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.modelteam)

  Re: TERRA DOS

Ben, (...) I had the same expectations. Actually I gave this model the highest rates (of course not for the story, that's a shame). (...) I could image how expensive they are. I've never seen one in real life, but sure it's a challenge to build. (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jul-02, to lugnet.modelteam)

  Liebherr R996 Mining Excavator

My R996 model is finally finished! The four part feature at Bricks in my Pocket (BimP) is fully online now. Many thanks to Steven Combs, editor of BimP, for featuring my model. (URL) in the MODELS section) The model will be appearing at Brickfest, (...) (22 years ago, 9-Jul-02, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.technic, lugnet.modelteam) !

  Re: TERRA DOS

(...) Hello Dennis! Yes - it is a really great model and I expected it to make it unter the top 10 of the ISCC I. But I think because of the lack of 'story' it missed the top-ratings in the voting process. The real machines like that do work alot in (...) (22 years ago, 9-Jul-02, to lugnet.modelteam)
