(...) After much experimenting, I have decided recently to start +everything+ at 1.00. I beleive that overall that gives me the best return and it gives bidders a fair chance to get a bargain once in a while (like the guy who won four cannon (...) (25 years ago, 14-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)

(...) I normally start low too : $0.25 and NR. But this can lead to a high number of bidders - which can discourage people too. The problem for me is if I do "go Dutch" with a 7 x 8880 auction, with a starting price of $1, it will take a lot of bids (...) (25 years ago, 14-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)

I thought it was the other way round - seeing something really popular (lots of bids, maybe the eBay "hot" icon) people tend to go take a look and see what's so great - which increases the likelihood they will bid (since they gotta (...)
