The CompUSA in Raleigh, NC has a few of these sets but not at this price
($10).  Everything the Raleigh store has is at the $30 level.  Not a bad
deal but far from $10.

Yeah, CompUSA in Vacaville, CA had two Extreme Creatures for about $30 and that
was it.

While looking at the Mindstorms sets I noticed that CompUSA had some
Bionicle sets (small ones) listed for $0.01 - that's right - a penny.  I
took a RIS expansion set to the register in hopes it would scan for less
than what was listed on the shelf but they did not.  So I had them scan the
Bionicle and it came up as not in their system.  I told the lady it was a
penny and she said "that can't be right, we don't sell anything for a
penny".

I showed her the shelf tag and perplexed, she went and got the manager.  He
was also perplexed and believed it was a mistake.  He believes it was part
of a "buy LEGO product XYZ, get a Bionicle for $0.01" type promotion but
couldn't find the details.  He took shelf label down while I was standing
there and told me he would honor the price of $0.01 if I wanted to hold them
to it as he was required to do so by law.

I decided not to take advantage of what he believed be an error and he was
very relieved.  My good deed for the day.  Now I might have not have been so
willing to pass up a deal had it been for something that contained real
bricks.  Bionicles don't do much for me so not getting them is not real big
deal to me. FWIW - I could have gotten six copies of the small orange one
(MSRP $3)  for a penny each had I really pressed the issue.

A similar thing happened to me at CompUSA a while back. I saw some 5902 River
Raft and 6498 Go-Kart polybags on pegs in the children's software aisle, but
there was no sign of any current freebie with purchase on any of the LEGO
software packages.  I took one up to find out what software they came with and
no one could tell me. It rang up at a penny and the guy didn't want to mess
with them, so he told me I could have all six that were left for a penny each.

BTW I wouldn't press for a bargain like this one, but I always let them know
how appreciative I am when they do come through with a great deal.

My CompUSA has Turaga for $10.28 each! Yikes! At least that's how they're marked. I was not about to test it. They are the only store where I have seen anything less than total sell-through of Bionicle figures. (23 years ago, 10-Nov-01, to lugnet.market.shopping)
