Re: How much does LEGO Weigh?

(...) Hmm... what would it take? Assume that ABS plastic's volume relates directly to its weight-- and then all you need to do is calculate volume using Ldraw parts. So weigh something like a 2x10, a 2x4, a 1x1, and a few odds and ends... then check (...) (23 years ago, 11-Apr-01, to lugnet.market.shipping, lugnet.general)

Re: How much does LEGO Weigh?

(...) If you had the weights of all the elements, it would be useful to someplace like Brickbay, where it could be used to automatically calculate shipping charges based on weight. (not that i'm suggesting that you weigh out all the pieces or (...) (23 years ago, 11-Apr-01, to lugnet.market.shipping, lugnet.general)

Re: How much does LEGO Weigh?

(...) I have all these parts except (maybe) the side plume. I'll weigh them next time I know no one is going to be in the lab. I'm also interested in seeing the relationship between brick size and mass (i.e. is it a linear relationship?). -chris ps. (...) (23 years ago, 11-Apr-01, to lugnet.market.shipping, lugnet.general)

Re: How much does LEGO Weigh?

(...) Yeah, there are a couple other pretty small parts that might contest (Although my guess is still the coin): - small knight's plume - small knight's side plume (dragon wing r/l) - minifig hand - minifig 'hook' hand - white rubber band - (...)   Re: How much does LEGO Weigh?

Very cool. I've often thought that the small plume that attaches to a knight's helmet might be the lightest element. Any chance you could weigh one of those? - Cary "Christopher Tracey" <ctracey@enviroweb.org> wrote in message (...) (23 years ago, 11-Apr-01, to lugnet.market.shipping, lugnet.general)

Re: How much does LEGO Weigh?

Hey all. The lightest lego part (of the candidates mentioned) is: a gold coin = 0.05602 g This measure was performed on a Mettler AE240 analytical balance. I didn't correct for fingerprints or dust so these measures might be a little off, but most (...) (23 years ago, 11-Apr-01, to lugnet.market.shipping, lugnet.general)

Re: How much does LEGO Weigh?

(...) heh, if you're going to go that route, wouldn't the new primo turtle be pretty heavy? and i think he's got a primo stud on him somewhere - making him a brick instead of just a container, but i'm not sure. (23 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.market.shipping, lugnet.general)

Re: How much does LEGO Weigh?

(...) Ah yes... that'd work... (never owned one myself) Thought of another one-- how about some of the BASIC building tables? (never owned these either) although the tables are quite a bit of a stretch... DaveE (23 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.market.shipping, lugnet.general)

Re: How much does LEGO Weigh?

(...) Dunno if you'd count it as a piece, but the minifig gold chrome coins are REALLY lightweight... How 'bout heaviest piece? I'll wager the newish 32x48 raised baseplates? Or an RCX w/ batteries... DaveE (23 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.market.shipping, lugnet.general)

  How much does LEGO Weigh?

If anyone has access to a laboratory quality balance (scale), could you determine how much the smallest LEGO part weighs? Probably a "Control Lever" (URL) as the smallest / lightest part... Unless anyone has a different candidate?? Thanks, -Jon (23 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.market.shipping, lugnet.general)

  Re: WOW ~ #1593 Classic Space ~ It's here!!!!

(...) Wow, that's incredible! Fastest I've ever heard prior to that for something small via regular airmail was 3 days from Minneapolis, MN, U.S.A. to Köln, Germany. What method of shipment was used? Was it regular airmail? (...) Wow. Drool. --Todd (23 years ago, 25-Mar-01, to lugnet.market.auction, lugnet.market.shipping)

Re: International shipping question (from US)

(...) Back when the USPS changed all the rates (1/7/2001), they briefly called it 'Global Airmail Letter Post'. Then, for unknown reasons, they dropped the 'Global'. So now its known as 'Airmail Letter Post. Weight up to 4 lbs, package size (...) (23 years ago, 22-Mar-01, to lugnet.market.shipping)

Re: International shipping question (from US)

(...) Don't forget there are also size limits for Letter-post (previously called Small Packet), and they cannot be insured. The usps web site states: Max. length 24", Max. length, height, depth combined 36" /Eric McC/ (23 years ago, 22-Mar-01, to lugnet.market.shipping)

Re: International shipping question (from US)

Julie, The rate you are looking for is Airmail Letter-post, but it's only for packages under 4 pounds (with some size limits). Packages over 4 pounds have to go Airmail Parcel-post. The surface equivalents of the above are Economy Letter-post & (...) (23 years ago, 22-Mar-01, to lugnet.market.shipping)

  International shipping question (from US)

I'm going a bit batty here trying to figure the rate on a few packages. I thought "air small packet" was replaced by "Global Airmail Letter Post". I don't see "Global Airmail Letter Post" as an option for sending to the UK or Canada. Somebody please (...) (23 years ago, 22-Mar-01, to lugnet.market.shipping)

  Re: Bad experience with Customs

  Re: Bad experience with Customs

(...) Time for me to chime in with the standard "Sorry, that's called mail fraud" line. If you choose to mark things as a gift that aren't so, odds are you'll get away with it, and 99.9% of the time, Customs won't even know or care, but that doesn't (...)   Re: Bad experience with Customs

(...) Hi, Having done dozens of transactions abroad, I've had a few cases where customs were involved.
