Julie,
The rate you are looking for is Airmail Letter-post, but it's only for
packages under 4 pounds (with some size limits). Packages over 4 pounds have
to go Airmail Parcel-post. The surface equivalents of the above are Economy
Letter-post & Economy Parcel Post. It's confusing because the Airmail
Letter-post category covers packages, too.

The Global name only appears with priority shipping. Global Priority
Mail(GPM) = expedited shipping 3-5 days; Global Express Mail(EMS) =
overnight shipping 2-3 days; Global Express Guaranteed(GXG) = a guarenteed
delivery date/time to a limited number of countries.

I searched the USPS website for a long time without finding simple
definitions of the new terms. I finally had to pick up a flyer at the PO
that showed them.

In sending items to Canada or the UK, sometimes the Global Priority Flat
rate envelopes can be cheaper than Airmail Letter-post. They are the grey
envelopes with the eagle design. A small one is 6x9, the large is 9x12. The
postage rate is fixed regardless of weight, as long as everything fits in
the envelope & you can close it.

Email me if I may be of any more help.

I'm going a bit batty here trying to figure the rate on a few packages.

I thought "air small packet" was replaced by "Global Airmail Letter Post".

I don't see "Global Airmail Letter Post" as an option for sending to the UK or
Canada.

Somebody please hellllpppppp!
Thanks,
Julie

(...) Don't forget there are also size limits for Letter-post (previously called Small Packet), and they cannot be insured. The usps web site states: Max. length 24", Max. length, height, depth combined 36" /Eric McC/ (23 years ago, 22-Mar-01, to lugnet.market.shipping)
