I'm sure you will get a variety of answers to this query... For most sellers,
PayPal is not free. The amount that you send to the seller is delivered to the
seller less a fee. PayPal takes that fee out of the entire amount that you send
(including any amounts invoiced to you for shipping, handling, et al). So the 3%
fee that PayPal proudly announces to sellers can easily grow to 10% of the
item's values depending on the size of the payment. Even tho PayPal takes 3% of
the shipping/ins/handling amounts, the seller still has to make those up to full
for the post office.
Additionally, many people don't like the idea of PayPal having access to their
Credit Card and/or Checking Account. If you get a PayPal payment for a
transaction that goes bad, PayPal will debit those amounts from those accounts
(plus potentially a service fee).
So there are a variety of reasons. PayPal is meant to be easy and (relatively)
safe from the buyers perspective, but it is a bit less so from the sellers
perspective.
