In my opinion setting a high opener with a high reserve can be effective.
It lets people know the general ballpark within which the reserve is set.
Obviously if the opener is 7500 then bidding 50 bucks is probably pointless.
What baffles me is why set a high opener with a reserve AND a "buy-it-now"
price that also lets a bidder know the general range :-)
