Re: To Tom Reed and James Simpson (Re: Austin Group)

(...) Hi Pat- I live in Austin as well, but I only browse this newsgroup about twice a month due to low message count. I'm 26 and my girlfriend and I are into Town, Train, and Egyptian themes. -brandon (24 years ago, 2-Feb-01, to lugnet.loc.us.tx.aus)

Re: To Tom Reed and James Simpson (Re: Austin Group)

(...) Hi Pat, Looks like you are getting more Austin responses now! I know there are a few others in Austin. I'm not sure you can get them to respond. Maybe they don't read this newsgroup too often. I'm into Pirate's and Castle mostly! I like to see (...) (24 years ago, 30-Jan-01, to lugnet.loc.us.tx.aus)

Re: To Tom Reed and James Simpson (Re: Austin Group)

(...) Greetings and thanks for the reply! AFAIK, a state-wide group (out of Dallas) is in the works. I'd enjoy some kind of regional gathering as well, though. Wasn't there a pretty strong Austin group for a while there? james (24 years ago, 30-Jan-01, to lugnet.loc.us.tx.aus)

Re: To Tom Reed and James Simpson (Re: Austin Group)

Im here too. I just came out of my dark ages about a year ago. My wife and I spend quite a bit of time now doing Star Wars and Castle (and Paradisa with our kids) Work and kids keeping me pretty busy as well. (24 years ago, 29-Jan-01, to lugnet.loc.us.tx.aus)

Re: To Tom Reed and James Simpson (Re: Austin Group)

There are more of us here, but we don't post very much. My wife and I moved to Austin last summer from LUGNET heavy Knoxville, Tennessee. While it is nice to have a local community, it's also refreshing to not have to compete with Mike Stanley and (...) (24 years ago, 29-Jan-01, to lugnet.loc.us.tx.aus)

Re: To Tom Reed and James Simpson (Re: Austin Group)

Sorry about the double reply, but I think this message is still in lugnet.loc.us.tx.aus, and not Texas wide. (...) (24 years ago, 29-Jan-01, to lugnet.loc.us.tx.aus)

Re: To Tom Reed and James Simpson (Re: Austin Group)

Hi, I'm in Austin. I am interested in Technic and Model Team. Work and kids are keeping me pretty busy at the moment. Ron (...) (24 years ago, 29-Jan-01, to lugnet.loc.us.tx.aus)

To Tom Reed and James Simpson (Re: Austin Group)

Hi guys. There doesn't seem to be much response to the Austin-level dig, so I'm going one level up and try state-wide. We'll see what we end up with. I can't believe I'm the only LUGNET member in Austin! There's bound to be more. Peace, Pat (24 years ago, 29-Jan-01, to lugnet.loc.us.tx.aus)

  Re: Austin Local LUG?

(...) I live in College Station (halfway between Austin and Houston). I wouldn't mind going in either direction to get together with other lego enthusiasts! I know there are others in these regions... Tom (24 years ago, 27-Jan-01, to lugnet.loc.us.tx.aus)

  RE: Hello...

Yep, the Technic pickin's are definitely slim. In addition to eBay you might be able to find a few sets on Brickbay. <shameless plug> I'll have a few listed for sale in my own shop there soon, I hope. </shameless plug> Doug (...) (24 years ago, 27-Jan-01, to lugnet.loc.us.tx.hou)

  Re: Austin Local LUG?

(...) I'm from Houston, but I'd be very interested in going to Austin to hook up with the group from time to time (if that would be ok.) james (24 years ago, 26-Jan-01, to lugnet.loc.us.tx.aus)

  Austin Local LUG?

So, what is the local Lego User Group for Austin? I've been in Austin since August 2000, I am 33 years old, and love building with LEGO. Just now starting to dabble with trains. Wondering if there are actual LEGO groups that get together and (...) (24 years ago, 26-Jan-01, to lugnet.loc.us.tx.aus)

  Re: Hello...

I'm actually in Austin, but situation is the same. No real Technic sets anywhere (except for the Silver Champion at ToysRUs for full price). My best luck has been E-Bay. Just about any set you want is there. I'd suggest you watch awhile and look at (...) (24 years ago, 25-Jan-01, to lugnet.loc.us.tx.hou)

  Re: Hello...

(...) My experience has been that K-Mart and KB-Toys are best for finding cheap and/or old Lego. Regarding, Technic, virtually the only sets that seem to be shelved these days are the Robo Riders, or, as you said, the perenially discounted Cyper (...)   Re: Hello...

Talkative bunch eh? Either of y'all know of any good deals on lego stuff in town? I started collecting legos this month and I'm sticking with technic ones. I have about 70 sets already. I found some of the cyber slam ones around town for cheap, but (...) (24 years ago, 25-Jan-01, to lugnet.loc.us.tx.hou)
