Problem is, I have so many questions that I may become a pain :(
Here's one for instance: Which year did Lego stop printing Pat Pend on the
underside of bricks? I assume that it must have been about 1958 (the year
the stud/tube coupling mechanism was patented) but am not sure if they
continued with Pat Pend in some countries where perhaps a Patent had not yet
been secured.
Is it possible that the Pat Pend marking was phased out in different
countries over a number of years?
Does anyone have any info about Lego patents which might pin down the date
when Pat Pend marking ended?
I have noticed that a large number of bricks have been produced using a Pat
Pent mould which has been crudely modified (ie Pat Pend "scribbled out")
leaving a raised area of plastic where the text would have been. I presume
that this was purely a cost saving exercise to avoid the need to manufacture
new moulds for what is essentially a cosmetic amendment.
As always...any thoughts / info greatly appreciated.
Cheers
