In the market for yet more bulk bricks, I thought I would do some price
comparison between UK and USA prices.

It didnt take too long to quickly cut and paste the S@H price lists into Excel
and automatically calculate the differences in price.

On the positive side, most of the bulk elements are priced pretty close to US
prices in the UK. At an exchange rate of 1.46, many bricks are 0.99x US
prices, some are 1.1x, though B004 is 1.39x for some reason.

Watches and Keychains are just under 1x, and there is a small number of sets
that are 0.7x or 0.8x US prices, so quite favourable.

However, a lot of Lego System is 1.46x
The worst offenders are lego software, which are at least 2x, with Lego
Friends 3.65x, as it is on offer at $9.99 compared to UK price of £24.99

Star Wars varies at 1.17x to 1.46x more than US prices
Train is 1.2x or 1.3x

If anyone wants a copy of the spreadsheet email me. It shows the comparative
prices, and also shows gaps in the catalog.

regards
lawrence

(...) You may want to make sure you're comparing apples to apples. For example: (...) Friends came out at 40 USD MSRP IIRC, as do most LegoMedia titles. It's currently on sale, yes, because it didn't do very well. (my daughter Taya (11), who loves (...) (24 years ago, 28-Sep-00, to lugnet.loc.uk)
