Re: Set #10021 has been spotted at Shop at Home! —Marc Nelson, Jr.
(...) I don't buy the excuse of "LEGO can't afford to make new molds." They make molds for new pieces by the barrelful every time a new line comes out. If they can afford to make new molds for a lot of weird, single-use pieces (Galidor limbs, King (...) (22 years ago, 19-Jun-02, to lugnet.loc.nl, lugnet.general)

Re: Set #10021 has been spotted at Shop at Home! —Michael Dallaston
(...) I think (as Larry P and others have stated) the issue here is not whether the Lego Company can or is willing to reproduce these parts, but rather that 'Lego Direct', the department within Lego whose brief it is to make these Legends, wasn't (...)         Re: Set #10021 has been spotted at Shop at Home! —Mark de Kock
(...) Alright, this flipped my switch. Now I *have* to respond :-) Your argument that they make new molds for all new lines is valid. But pleace remember that those new lines are to be sold to 'the world'. And in that world, there are an enormous (...) (22 years ago, 19-Jun-02, to lugnet.loc.nl, lugnet.general)

Re: Set #10021 has been spotted at Shop at Home! —William R. Ward
(...) When I was a kid, new pieces were exciting, and a big reason for buying a set. I remember each Christmas and birthday shopping season begging for certain sets because of the new parts, or existing parts in new colors, that were included. I (...)          Re: Set #10021 has been spotted at Shop at Home! —Frank Filz
(...) Hmm, I seem to have ordered a bag of white classic 1x2x2 windows from S@H a year or so ago... The thing that can be done with the 1x1x1 classic window which is real nice is to make a decent looking mullioned window. Of course those don't show (...)          Re: Set #10021 has been spotted at Shop at Home! —Larry Pieniazek
(...) They're the new ones, not the old ones. They don't have a projecting lip that juts out in front at the bottom, as did the entire old family except the 1x6x3 . If the 1x1 was revived a decision would need to be made whether to revive it exactly (...) (22 years ago, 20-Jun-02, to lugnet.loc.nl, lugnet.general)

Re: Set #10021 has been spotted at Shop at Home! —David Koudys
(...) Are you sure about that lip on the windows, Larry? I'm at work right now and can't check, but I seem to recall that the only window that had that annoying protruding bottom lip that interfered with bricks in front was the 1x6x3. I thought the (...)           Re: Set #10021 has been spotted at Shop at Home! —Ross Crawford
       (...) Dunno about the rest, but the 1x4x2, 1x2x2 & 1x1x2 definitely had a lipped version. ROSCO (22 years ago, 20-Jun-02, to lugnet.loc.nl, lugnet.general)

David Koudys wrote in message ... (...) Yes, the old ones in several sizes did have the protruding lip - I have several.           Re: Set #10021 has been spotted / classic window info —Reinhard "Ben" Beneke
(...) [Snip Gary's links] The German Lego Fan Karl-Heinz ('legofreak') has a really good and very infomative page concerning the classic windows (lots of pictures as examples). (URL) Regards, Ben (22 years ago, 21-Jun-02, to lugnet.loc.nl, lugnet.general)

Re: Set #10021 has been spotted at Shop at Home! —Reinhard "Ben" Beneke
(...) [snip] (...) Hi Lar, just lost a '+' for today... The none-compatible classic windows have been stopped in 1972 (at least for Europe - no idea about samsonite windows). Sets like London Bus 313 (from 1971) or train buildings 343 and 342 (late (...) (22 years ago, 21-Jun-02, to lugnet.loc.nl, lugnet.general)

Re: Set #10021 has been spotted at Shop at Home! —Larry Pieniazek
(...) It's not a "they" it's a "them". There is a big difference! The group making new molds is not LD. Large complex organizations sometimes have large complex budgeting schemes. Brad has said his organization does not currently have the brief to (...) (22 years ago, 20-Jun-02, to lugnet.loc.nl, lugnet.general)
