  Canadian Online Toy Purchases....

What sorts of online Toy Stores are there that are Canadian if any? I mean ones that del in Canadian Dollars and are based in Canada and ship from Canada. Actually I'm not really interested just in their LEGO department but also any other toys. (24 years ago, 28-Dec-00, to lugnet.loc.ca)

(...) Try these Tim: (URL) are web extensions of regular brick & mortar shops. Most aren't megachains like TRU either. There was a new etailer that opened out of BC, but as I recall they still did everything in US dollars, so the prices were nutso (...) (24 years ago, 28-Dec-00, to lugnet.loc.ca)

(...) Try... Toad Hall Toys, a toyshop located in Winnipeg. (URL) the East Coast Model Center, on PEI. (URL) the two I know of straightaway. Neither actually deal in Lego, I mostly know of them through my digging for Rokenbok. You did, afterall, ask (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.loc.ca)

  Re: Canadian Online Toy Purchases....

Hello, I got tired of trying to find Canadian online Lego sellers that were competitive...I've been purchasing "sale" merchandise from eToys, Walmart, etc. through a service in Canada called Borderfree (www.borderfree.com). They act as a broker for (...) (24 years ago, 30-Dec-00, to lugnet.loc.ca)

DUTY? (was Re: Canadian Online Toy Purchases....)

Hey I haven't actually looked into this as of the time I'm replying but this sounds really cool! I now have another question, however..... What is the deal with paying "duty" on items and how is it determined? I can't seem to find out much info on (...) (24 years ago, 31-Dec-00, to lugnet.loc.ca)

Re: DUTY? (was Re: Canadian Online Toy Purchases....)

Duty should not be a problem on LEGO. I've bought from USA and Europe (France). When they come through Borderfree, they act as the broker and classify them properly -- duty free. The only charge is GST/PST as in Canada. If you purchase from someone (...) (24 years ago, 31-Dec-00, to lugnet.loc.ca)

Re: DUTY? (was Re: Canadian Online Toy Purchases....)

(...) G'day Tim, I can help here with things in-bound from the USA. Because of NAFTA, most items (including LEGO) can be imported into Canada from the USA with no duty charges (tariffs). The condition is that the item must be "made in the USA". For (...) (24 years ago, 31-Dec-00, to lugnet.loc.ca)

Re: DUTY? (was Re: Canadian Online Toy Purchases....)

Following up my own message here. I had posted in the previous message that in Ontario you should only have to pay GST on imported LEGO from the USA. This was based on information given to me directly by Customs by telephone. As it turns out this (...) (24 years ago, 29-Jan-01, to lugnet.loc.ca)

Re: DUTY? (was Re: Canadian Online Toy Purchases....)

(...) Kyle, I don't think you will have much luck getting your PST back. CCRA (was Revenue Canada) and the province of Ontario have a service level agreement to collect PST at the border. I just double checked the Customs site and CCRA also has (...) (24 years ago, 30-Jan-01, to lugnet.loc.ca)

(...) And they evidently collect on non-postal imports as well..., I drove that large order in personally. (...) Well given that a BrickBay package that just arrived from Italy was also taxed, I guess I won't be seeing anything come back. Since (...) (24 years ago, 1-Feb-01, to lugnet.loc.ca)
